Weekend Photo Fun 12/9 To 12/11

I have not completed anything new this week, so here are some pictures I took at the Club I belong to in Strongsville, OH. I don’t know if I have posted these here before or not.

PRR N1s stopping at the crossing with the 20th Century Limited in the background.

RS-32 and F3’s highballing a general freight through town.

NKP GP30’s moving out after stopping at the tower for orders.

Thanks for looking!

Here is one of the trains from one of the members in my club

Rick,
Thanks for starting us off, those are excellet shots!!

I’ll downgrade the fun with a 70’s Freightshaker that I bashed from an old Athearn bag kit into a container shuttler! Although, I did not have the Plano mirrors on hand, I trimmed it out with an extended frame, scratchbuilt container frame (with pockets) scratch exhaust & air intake, & pusher axle. I used the kit front wheels, but used A-Line 2 holers for all the rears, & the container. I painted the cab in Testors Gull Gray & the container in Alclad under a medium gray (more in Antonios thread). A-line flaps in the back, & I still need to locate my stash of pintle hitches to run doubles! Yeah I’m a truck guy at heart!
Now back to Trains!!

Running trains, here a coal train through Salina at my Silver Valley RR.

Roscoe, the engineer, is at the throttle of 1254, a 2-6-0, as it shoves an empty gondola into Reggie’s junk yard. It appears the old, sway back gon is close to becoming scrap itself. With luck, it may handle at least one more revenue load before being retired. Meanwhile, Reggie continues to work on his hot rod.

Handing up train orders. DJ.

The other day I dug out an old Mantua 2-8-2, it still has a horn hook coupler on the tender, gave it a lube and oil job and she just runs beautifully. And I’ve got some tight 18" radius curves with 3% grade. Here she is picking up some water at a scratch built backwoods water tank, that is barely visible:

Gary,

Excellent modeling. I especially like that stock car with my initials.

Do I ever win?

Okay, don’t ask me how in the world Espee’s “Coast Daylight” ended up at Bullard’s Bar in the Sierra Nevada on the Yuba River Sub, but here she is, anyway. Maybe it’s an ‘excursion’ special.

Tom

Great shot of the SP Daylight Tom!!!

That’s my excuse for steam passenger trains on my layout. Excursions!

Michael:

Thanks. The cars are MTH, the GS-4 is a re-worked brass Balboa and the MT-4 helper is from Athearn Genesis.

Hmm–which reminds me, I’ll have to finish that pink mountain one of these days, LOL! [:$]

BTW, that’s one VERY handsome Rio Grande F-unit you’ve got there. Who makes it?

My small contribution for the week.

440 PULLING SHORT COAL DRAG

Everybody has excellent photos this week (as usual). I just did a little landscaping and changed couplers on my HW passenger cars so they all run good on the layout.

Engine Servicing

Tom,

I have a set of the MTH Daylight cars too. I’m planning on getting the MTH GS-4. Right now I run them with P2K SP E7 AB set.

The Rio Grande F3s are Intermountain w/sound. They are excellent runners.

Hi Guys

I completed my second load of railroad scrap. This load is scrap rail I had on hand, last week’s was scrap plastic wheels. These cars were already internally weighted so I lifted the load up with foam underneath, so the car wouldn’t be too heavy. [:-^]

Some very good looking photos this week. [tup]

A good beginning guys. Keep the photos and ideas coming.

Here is one from the BRVRR:

NYC RDC #53 passes through the Olive Street crossing on the layout’s reversing loop.

Keep up the good work guys. This is always the best thread of the week.

I love the 55 Chevrolet, I borrowed one just like it, from my cousin when I started my business in 1960.
Great photo shot also.

Have fun.

Just finished up a building a boxcab for the aptly-named “Build-a-Boxcab Challenge” on Trainboard:

Bringing vital supplies to Mt. Coffin:

More picts over on my Mt. Coffin & Columbia River (23"x41" N scale layout) thread.

Thanks for looking, and keep up all the great pictures!
