i know its only thursday but i thought i would kick it off a little early.
i have been taking some pictures of some rolling stock i bought back from beijing with my bachmann china stuff.
my complete chinese collection.
a brass unpowered df7 i got from beijing railway museum. i am looking for a suitable donor chassis.
my SS4b. i believe there are only 5 of these brass models in the entire world.
beijing metro. also brass
SS7 how am i going to motorise that one!?
DF8 sorry for the lousey photo.
my LNER coronation set. this is my current project. the tape sticking out the top of the coaches is the masking for the interior which i dont want to remove just yet. i finally did the lining over the last couple of days. it actually turned out really well. its not perfect but i am really pleased with it.
ignore the smudges on the underframe streamlining. it is going to be painted over anyway. its going to be black or very dark grey.
the observation car.
Peter
wow. i managed to post pictures and it worked. my first bit of lining and now pictures that work… i’m on a roll!!
Nice ! I’ve always liked foreign trains, especially those dual cabbed cowl units… Here are some of my pics, all taken on my new N scale layout.
A Guilford geep moving cars to the “factory”. For now, it’s a Bluebox, but I’m planning to build a factory/warhouse of some sort…
Amtrak, old & new…
And now here’s my favorite pic of the bunch, the speeding Acela. I call it my " motion blur experiment". It took about 10-20 “laps” of the layout to finally snap a good photo of the nose right in front of the station. And not that it’s a bad model, but the jerkyness of the power car mechanism didn’t help much.
This is the whole layout. Flat, ain’t it? It 's built on a hollow core wooden door, 32"X80", nice and compact. I will be running DCC in the future, but for now just DC, while it’s being built. it features code 55 track, which I used due to it’s realism and not needing to lay much of.
I’ll post new photos as progress goes along…
Peter, that is weird looking stuff. Great collection. I have always been facinated by how something as functional as locomotives can reflect artistic heritage so much. Dave, I like the station and the effect. No pics from me yet. Getting ready for my first open house, with cub scouts yet. Still waiting for my brass 2-6-6-2 to arrive. Then we can get the coal train out again.
As always guys great pics! I like that chinese roster! Interesting. I should have some pics up tonight, tomrrow, or sometime over the weekend. Don’t owrry, they will get here!
I didn’t finish anything this weekend: but I did get one industrial building painted (on the left) and consturction on another one started (on the right):
And I assembled five building for my residential area:
Nick, I think we’re on the same page. Here are a couple of DPM Townhouse #2’s that I’m close to finished with:
As you can see, the people who live here can’t be model railroaders, because they don’t have basements. Instead, they are right above the Penny Lane subway station, currently under construction.
Peter-nice effort although i have never liked foreighn trains! I will say you have a nice collection going but just not for me have fun with ti though. MustangGT-nice layout I have the same Guilford just number 310!!
Aggro… When ya gonna do some USRA boxcars. I need more for my layout and someday I want one of yours rolling on the S.L.O.&W. Awesome.
Terry, I love Steamtown. Been there twice since they moved to Scranton and I hope to go back with my old Boy Scout Troop late this summer. Nice photos! We will have to get together one of these days since we live only a few miles apart.
I have been working on the backdrop in the new room. Just about finished.
These are better photos than last week as the lighting (color corrected florescent) has been installed and is providing the lighting for the photo.
I will have some shots of some passenger equipment that has just been assembled (along with some that was RTR) by the end of the weekend.
Agro, I think you are getting better and better. The photos are really good. What do you use as your setup for photography?
It is blowing a gale here so I sincerly hope that tomorrow it will be too windy to do the yard work so that I can get on in the train room for a change.
You are so good, it’s amazing. Outstanding work! The best I have ever seen. How much would it cost me to have a D&RGW car weathered like that? Please contact me with a prize if you are interested.
Guys, you are all so. o … o … o … o far ahead of me. I dreamed early last year, planned late last year and began building this year.
As always, the work here is really outstanding. Aggro … those cars … what can I say. They look like the real thing. And howmus, I’m jealous of your backdrop.
Last weekend got the top on the lower level.
This weekend getting the wiring done underneath. 12 guage run is at 38 ft so I am twisting wire as recommended by Allen Gartner over at WiringForDCC. 12 guage holds its shape, so, no problem with a short here.
Tom your room is looking really good. I can see that some real pride has gone into what is clearly quality work. This will all pay off in the end with a spectacular layout with fantastic running qualities.
