WEEKEND PHOTO FUN 17MAR06 (Dial Up Warining)

Ok well i dont see the one for this week so ill start the fun. I have been messing around with making a crossing and finally got the way i want it. yes I know that there are no ties on the crossing but oh well im not perfect but hey the trains dont derail over them. I still have to put traffic lines and stuff on them but hey its lookin better than I thought it would start out. And I also put one through my yard tonight just to have a route for mow workers and stuff like that. Finally the main road has white lines and a crossing gate still workin on the yellow lines, its hard to hand paint these things, with turning arrows. Sorry if they are blurry, bad lighting.

Just posted these in my photobucket, It’s an old Walthers transfer table painted, decaled, kinda weathered, and it works.[:D]

This is just my opinion, (and I’d really like to know if anyone shares it), but on nharrison21’s layout, in the third pic don’t the crossing gates and signals seem too far from the actual grade crossing ?

Okay, time for me to stick some in, now that I actually have something worthy of photographing again:

Grade crossing, now with NJ International crossing gates:

Equipment yard:

Street trackage, “Front St., Salem, OR”:

More street trackage, “Front St., Salem, OR”:

Yes, that’s a steep little hill the road climbs right in front of the camera.

Had the week off finally. Started work on benchwork for the lower level. Finished painting what is in place so far.

Staging (right) and entrance to loop (left).

Exit from staging and last module before the dreaded helix (yikes!).

thought i’d just run some trains tonight…my wife snuck up on me with the camera…

Actually, given the curvature of the track, the gates are probably in the right place.

Now for my weekend project, a bunch of trees and bushes, and some field grass:

This week I painted a caboose for IC.

Looks great everyone.
Grade crossing and roads? Step ahead of me, looks nice.

GAPP, man I really dig your layout. Love the town and the transfer table, thing a beauty

Jeff and Tom, nice work. That street trackage looks really good. That room is going to look really good.

Nick, when they say add color to your layout, you took it to a whole new level. Impressive,

Digi, Caboose looks good man. Found out that BNSF still uses one for a westside local here in Phoenix. Long love the Caboose.

Clark… Keep the door locked man. [:D]

As for me, I guess my weekend update is the new painted engine for the KVR, little GE to work the rails. And new sign picture for the whole KVR family

thats basically the only place i could put the crossing without it interfering with the trains but thanks for the pointn out

Could you tell me what you used to make your roads with. I’ve never had much luck creating realistic looking roads and could use the help.

Thanks,
Brian

i used elmers wood filler and so far it works for me

Great Photos everyone. I truly like them all. Allan.

Greetings and Salutations Gentlemen,

As always some impressive efforts displayed here again this weekend. For my own part, I have nothing glamourous to show, but in the interest of keeping you up-to-date on my progress here are two shots of my efforts this past week.

It’s not very sexy, but is has to be done…rail rusting, and call me a sucker for punishment, but I’m doing it by hand!

Keep up the good work and keep this pictures coming.

Trevor

My favorite GP30 once more leads MD&W boxcars across the creek. It seems a new forest is quickly sprouting in this area where there was none before!

The aspen trees are this week’s attempt at creating something somewhat realistic.

Everyone’s pictures look great, thanks for sharing.

Jim

Bbrant - the grade crossing is Woodland Scenics “Smooth-it”, the street running section is Smoot-It topped by joint compound, also known as drywall mud.

In both cases the paint is something that I just tossed together.

pics look good
