Weekend Photo Fun 19 -21 April 2013

Gidday All, Busy week again.

Thanks to all who made comments regarding my first video attempt , having now got a “swollen head” I have decided to repay your kindness by inflicting upon you Part 2.[swg]

TerryinTexas.“Interesting to see a track running down the back of the modules”

The original modules were 450 mm (17.71 inches, the joys of metrication) wide and had a single track at the front. At the first show it was realized that no matter how great and detailed the scenery, all the average public wanted to see "trains run. so a second track was added at the back under the “mountain” of the "Cabin Creek" module, the original module’ which allowed for new modules to have “no back” so could be viewed from both sides depending on the set up. Hope I haven’t made this as clear as mud.

M. C. Fujiwara & the Silicon Valley FreemoN Guys, For some reason I had “San Diego” on the brain [banghead], and while to me its in the same part of the world that’s no excuse so I humbly apologise. [:$]

Part 2 is here… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V392mzfdBOY

Nice part 2!! I love the detail work!!

Here’s a N Scale RBOX I’ve been working on. I normally do HO Scale, but N Scale is fun to do also. I know this weekend I gotta make a diorama for my N Scale cars.

Why do I post a before shot??? Well, just to let people see how much the car has changed and the work put into it.

Before:

After:

I found this beast idling on the Sundown shop track yesterday.

Nothing complete this week but here is the weeks progress on the Rail Yard Models PC X79 Boxcar.

Here I have glued on all the I beams to the bottom of the car along with the caps on the main structural beams.

Started work on the brake line piping and rigging, assembled, drilled holes for pipes on the Air Reservoir, Triple Valve and Brake Cylinder, installed the main air line and the lines from the Air Reservoir to the Triple Valve, still have a lot of work to do on the piping and rigging.

Thanks for looking!

I’ve been working on a scratch built station. Of all the station kits I have collected the last couple of years, I decided to start from scratch. Here is a quick revue:

Starting out with a hand full of misc. DPM pieces from the “junk” box and an old Kibri canopy kit:

Working out the roof structures:

Painting:

And a picture of the almost completed structure:

I tried to post a track side picture, but Photobucket is not cooperating. I keep clicking on Image code, and it won’t copy…happens sometimes, don’t know why?

Lots more detail work to do, as I’m going to tint the glass, windows, etc., and interior finishing, as this is right in front you when operating.

Mike.

I don’t know why it would be doing that. Mine works whether I click on the words ‘Image Code’ or on the IMG tag line. It works either way. I’m using Firefox 19.

It seems to happen once in a while. I have Firefox 20., and Java Script is enabled, so, I leave the site for a while a go back, and works. I’ve looked at Photobucket help site, and have checked all they suggest.

Here’s the track side picture:

See, now it works! I’ve never tried the image tag line. I’ll check it out.

Thanks Jeff,

Mike.

Your station is looking good.

Great work everyone. Very nice job Jeff. Today I have a small Pennsy work train staging a Russell snow plow in preparation of winter. Note that it is always Autumn on the layout.

It’s a strange thing, I never had an accent until I left home… [(-D]

An Ambroid kit I built late 1950, maybe 1957 or 1958. I was 18 or 19 then.

The UP 844 waiting for passengers to board, before heading to Denver.

Jack W : Thanks for sharing the old box car you made in the 1950’s. … Michael: I like your Cheyenne station … Mike: Looks like you are building a great station… Curt: Nice shot with the plow. … Robby: more great weathering! … Rick that looks like a time consuming kit. … Jeff: Unique locomotive at Sundown Shops.

Here is an older photo of SD24’s leading a lashup of freight units.

Garry,

Great low-angle shot! Points out the need to remember to weather underneath to look good for shots like these. Nice work and looks like some interesting builds underway, too.

Had a great ops session last weekend, so here’s a couple of pics of that.

Here’s a meet at Rockwood along the way.

Finally, some good news on The Night Scene. Had a bad batch of blue LED rope lights mixed in with the ones I used and had a “warranty situation” once the supplier realized they were shipping bunk. Now we’re back after the sun sets.

Mike,

I like that last shot. Those lights make it look like it is early morning or late evening with a fresh coating of snow.

Railfanning the BT&S yielded this shot.

P&Slocal,

Thanks for your comments! If you didn’t see it a couple of months ago, I wrote up my experimentation in a thread called “The Night Scene,” where there is discussion on how I achieve shots like this.

Just completed a new section of town. Need to finish three more blocks of town,

and the upper level will be done.

Nice pics and great work guys.

Sam, fantastic city scene, good work in blending into the backdrop around the corner.
