Gidday All, at this time of year talk of Lionel and American Flyer trains under Christmas trees is quite common for you Good ffolkes in North America, particularly the USA.
As a lad those names were unfamiliar to me and what I would have seen is what’s represented on this small portable layout that was at the local clubs open day, Hornby O clockwork, Hornby Dublo 3 rail and Hornby Dublo 2 rail. The N and Z gauge were later developments.

Yeah…Your stuff, looks foreign to Me too! I was an American Flyer guy in the late 40’s. LOL.
Got a little sidetracked this week with RIP Jeff. But I did manage to almost complete four more Tractor’s I started on last weekend. There are five on my drying shelf in their primer colors…I did manage to complete two. Will have to wait until my Son comes home He has the Camera. I also started a before shot of where the Transload Terminal will go, hopefully I can post before the weekends out.

It started life as a Bowser Clinchfield hopper kit. I have a matching second car I did the same to. Different numbers.
Freelanced road business car. I left the name off center because I used the story- The Austinvlle &Dynamite City thought they could fit their entire name on the car, but was unable to- so instead of relettering, they left it alone

Managed to get some cars completed this week:
This is a Thrall Clone of the ACF 1958CF Covered Hopper, used the Eastern Car Works kit and filled in the side holes, added airlines where appropriate and A-Line Sill Steps. Painted with Scalecoat II Black and lettered with Mark Vaughn’s Decals.
Intermountain Railway Company 12 Panel 10’ Inside Height Boxcar Kit that was used by the Great Northern, this is the 5th car I have done and all five have different paint schemes. Car Painted with Floquiil Mixture of Jade Green and Burlington Northern Green to replicate the freshly painted Glacier Green. Lettered with Champ Decals.
This car took a lot of research, in 1958 The NYC painted two cars with an experimental paint scheme. At the Canada Southern website it stated the car was a double door boxcar of one of the NYC lots, but in looking at the picture and caption in the NYC Color Guide it seems the NYC bought a 50’ car from the C&O and instead of the Despatch Ends and Roof it had a 4/4 End and a Diagonal Panel Roof along with a single 8’ Door. I used a Branchline 50’ Fishbelly side car, substituted a 4/4 end from the scrapbox and built the rest of the car as normal. Painted the car with Floquil Conrail Blue and Scalecoat II Black th

My big accomplishment this week was repairing my kitbashed I1sa. It fell of the layout a few months ago and the valve gear was damaged. A fellow PRR modeler supplied me replacement parts. After a trip to the shops and a scolding from the Fat Controller, she was back on the rails.
Impressive weekend so far and it is till Friday.
Bear … Trains have been a long standing Chrismas tradition in many places. That is an impressive collection you posted.

Bear, I know you are still wet behind the ears compared to this old geezer (1957) but did you hear of “Lone Star Treble O” in your neck of the woods? It was Dads MRR of choice when I was Knee high. Started collecting it when I was three and took it out about eight years ago. I put new bands from the Ortho on it and away it went. Have enough of the stuff to cover a 5’ x 10’ sheet of plywood.
It’s amazing what ends up on the elevator siding in the off season.
Everyone needs a little of this for Christmas.

Here’s the tail of the train crossing Lime Creek Viaduct.
Basically, I turned the track arrangement at Purgatory around to better suit traffic, while gaining a much needed second industry spur by converting one of the turntable leads to serve this sport. Here’s a view of the new arrangement. The track with the platform on it is the former TT lead.

heres what ive been up to the last couple days. alittle terrain forming on the east end of tunnel No1. i think the bottom of the cliff will be a area for some kind of a dry bed with cliffs.

Starting off w/ some great stuff this weekend.
Ggooler, lot accomplished on the hill/ portal. I would suggest modifying the hillside @ the curve, place another 1x at the 45 to allow some added base for the “cliff”. This will allow you to place a large rock outcropping that can be carried right up and over the "rounded’ top as it curves. Additional scenery, trees bushes more rock castings placed throughout the radius will break up that uniform curve. i figured this out the hard way by ripping out or having to modify my base contours,
