Karl, I like that shed, but I’m really impressed by that trestle. I’d love to see a pic when the scenery is done and the bridge is painted/stained/colored somehow.

It is a narrow space but the distance between the buildings and the mainline in Thurman WVA is a mear 12 ft
Alot of the towns in WVA on the C&O were built before cars so there was just room for a horse
if you had one . Most people walked or rode the train
You can usually find a scene in real life to match the improbable
Phase 1 of the Rock Ridge Downtown Renovation Project.
Here’s a before shot.

It doesn’t look like it but I had to fabricate a lot of pieces of wood and styrene. Don’t worry about the posts not being straight, they are not glued down, and won’t be until I paint the walks.

Good pics this week everyone Art. I really like the way your town in comming together, Where is the town according to the trestle/falls?
I have finally got something to show this week;
The first load of new Cat equpt. arrived late Friday night. There will be more but I need some more flat cars.

I am going to get another track hoe and another front loader and a bulldozer to add to the new arrival. Enjoy. Mike
Sorry for waning slightly off topic here. Just to report. I must be lucky. Other than some tweaks in Live Care, my upgrade to IE7 was successful.
Regards,
Mike, The town is in Minnesota, near one end of the layout. The falls is in Wyoming, Callifornia near the other end, about 20 real feet away. The layout is made of 2-4x8s connected by a 2x20 shelf layout.
I have decided that I am done working on the Diesel Shop for now. Here’s the finished product and some night shots.

Been outta action for some time as far as layout progress goes. I was perusing the threads and came across one regarding paint booths and suddenly inspiration began to flow through the veins.
I started this project on Fri. total cost was $15.05
I made it completely from materials left over from other projects. The fans came from a first generation AFIS fingerprinting unit ( I work for PD ). The only cost was for a filter I had to purchase from the Depot.
Hers a shot to give you an idea of what the finished product will look like.

The base is 3/4" particle board, the sides, back and top are 3/16" MDF The frame work is 3/4" quarter round where the sides and top meet the back. All secured by titebond glue and 7/8" brads. Don’t worry about the fans not being sealed I only use acrylics.
I’ll post finished results tomorrow when it’s done.
BTW, excellent work everyone, you inspire me and cause me envy as well by your works.
Great stuff as usual guys. I think I’m out of my league.
Karl what a great little shed. I would hate to guess the number of hours you put into it!
Art, I like your church with the stained glass windows. Its location under the bridge is curious though.
Just a couple of photos this week. Both were taken while I was fooling with my camera today.
First is an an ALCO PA/B set, NYC #4210 & #4301. How the mighty have fallen. Varnish locos delegated to freight service as the new E8s come on line.
My little ALCO S3 doing a little switching on the team tracks in Grafton.
More pictures and other stuff on my updated website including a new photo essay on building a new layout for my grandson.
Keep up the good work guys. This thread is always inspiring.
Great shots everybody!!!
ukguy The tractor and shed are fantastic!
jbinkley60 I really like the night shot of the enginehouse!

BVRR, I visited your site to see the layout for your grandson, very nice! My grandson has practically taken ove my 4x8 (he’s 10) and now his 7 Y O brother wants to get his $.02 in about hot to decorate! Right now he wants a St Valentine theme! Keep us all posted on the progress![8D]
Nice pictures.
Excellent work. Love the lighting. Hope I can come close to what you’ve done on my layout!
Art Hill and others, you make me sick[xx(] But in a good way. It will take 2 years to get my board some what close to what I want but still doing baby steps.
But it is a start.
I did add 2 new DCC with sound engines to my roster. BLI Mikado and PK2 FA2 and B with sound.
Cutting more foam again, Cuda Ken
i have the same old dutch cleanser cars as u do ! 8)
Ivanhen,
Thanks for the kind words. I hope you enjoyed the website.
I know about being displaced from the layout. My 10-year old grandson has virtually taken over the 4 x 10’ BRVRR on occasion. He switches the rolling stock and locos around so much they are hard to keep track of.
Oh well. He was my excuse for getting back into model railroading 4 or 5 years ago, so I can’t complain too much.
i just bought the Sunrise Feed Mill from Walthers Cornerstone Series. i built it weathored it and added it to my layout. i am only 13 so dont say how horrible i did just give me some pointers, if you have any.[8D]

You guys are making this painful, but I might as well post a recent photo anyway. This is a work in progress…needs lots of attention yet, but it will give you some idea of what I am creating. This is a cross-over span, a drop down, between two long benches. It comprises a reversing loop so that I can turn trains.

The only pointer I could give you is to take the spray bottle out of the pic!! I wouldn’t say “only 13” when you do such a nice job!! Keep up the good work![tup][tup]

That tressel at the bottom of your post is absolutely unbelievable!!![:O]
That’s an exact copy!![:O]
How did you do it[?]
Great work.[tup]
Happy railroading[(-D]
