Gidday All, Crisp clear night, almost full moon, will have a frost in the morning.
I know it’s a demonstrator but it’s a bit too clean, might get Robbie P’s fingers “itching”.[:D][:-^]
Have a Great One Folks,
Cheers, the Bear.

Good Morning All:
Just a couple quick shots. First are the workhorses of my fleet & my two personal favorite locos. Atlas/Kato Built GP-7’s, BAR #'s 562 & 570. Great runners, smooth, quiet. I’ve run these at scale 5-10 mph & they’re just as smooth as can be. Love 'em!
This is my sole Steam Loco in my fleet. It’s an older Bachmann Collector Classics Consolidated 2-8-0 that I recently picked up…cheap. If it was used at all, it was precious little. Still appeared to be NIB. I’m in the process of attempting a few upgrades on her. First, she had AT & SF markings & I’m switching those out for BAR markings. Just added the white striping & some light weathering around the front of the boiler & the pilot. Going to switchout the bell & re-position it further back on the boiler, then add a top mounted headlight where the bell now is. Then some more light weathering in appropriate spots, some more details & detail painting. Also going to switch out the plastic trucks & wheels on the tender for metal ones, add some copper axle contacts & wiring from them to the engine. She has the stall-out problem at low speeds on my #8 turnouts, something I was not expecting from a loco of this size. Hopefully it will solve the problem. Other than that, she seems a good runner.
Carl
Bear … Thanks for starting weekend photo fun with the colorful shark.
Carl … I like the BAR Geeps. I actually saw some like them in the late 1960’s when I was in Kalamazoo, MI, and the old PRR leased some of them to work in Kalamazoo.
Here is a photo of passenger trains awaiting departure from Union Station.
Good work,Guys
Garry: I like the background in that scene. How’d you do that?
Now that spring house painting and yard work are pretty much done,I’ve been able to get back down to the trains.
I’ve been trying to figure out where to stash my passenger cars when I’m not running them. This area where the tracks curve out to go through the wall, leaving a 2’ by 5’ triangular gap(outlined in red),was my only option.
Here are a few views of the almost finished area.I can put 22 85’ cars here…More than enough for the “City” Streamliner (12 to 14 cars) and a 6 car heavyweight train pulled by steam.
Have a good weekend!
Mike
I haven’t submitted anything new in over two years, but here are some new ones!! They’re nothing to rave about, but they’re from my new layout, still in the process of scenicking. First up, a Pennsy I1sa emerges from a mountain and moves up the grade toward the spiral tunnel in Big Mountain.
Next, a CPR Selkirk 2-10-4 emerges from a stone portal on its way down grade on the spiral tunnel complex.
Still many hours ahead of me to get the layout looking good, but…this is a start. [:D]
Crandell
Who made that CPR 2-10-4 I like it.
It’s a Sunset Models HO version with QSI decoder installed. It likes good track. I am working on providing it, but it will take a few more hours yet.
Crandell
Looks like another good (long) weekend of photos. Garry: Love that Union Station shot. Crandell: Good to see some photos of your new layout, and ESPECIALLY that handsome Selkirk:
Here’s mine. The 1935 PANORAMIC LIMITED crawling up Yuba Pass. Motive power is a Rio Grande M-75 3-cylinder 4-8-2, one of 10 of this class, and one of the very limited examples of 3-cylinder steam from Baldwin.
Tom
Nice start to the weekend guys!
Here are some cars that I finished this week!
This is an IMRC 1937 AAR Boxcar (10’ Inside Height). Painted with Scalecoat II Aluminum and Floquil Black Paint, lettered with Oddballs Decals.
This is an Atlas ACF 4650CF Covered Hopper, painted with Scalecoat II MOW Gray and lettered with Herald King Decals.
This is an IMRC PS 4750CF Covered Hopper, painted with Scalecoast II MOW Gray and lettered with Herald King Decals.
Thanks for looking!
Rick J
Thanks, it looks great.
Here is a bridge that made out of basswood and kitchen skewers. I also used a Central Valley tie strip and ME code 70 rail. Not bad for a few bucks!
Nice work everybody.
Tom I like the 4-8-2… Crandell: Looks great… Rick: I like the freight cars… Chuck: Nice bridge and good to be low budget.
Mike asked: “Garry: I like the background in that scene. How’d you do that?” … First, Mike I like your scene very much.
There is a shelf at street level behind the tracks at Union Station. The Street Car line has 2 tracks on the shelf. I placed building fronts at track level for mail and express operations. They hide the shelf. Behind the shelf (stree level are more back drop buildings. Severeral of the building fronts were purchased from a seller on Ebay who generated them on a computer, and he also made custom signs while doing that.
Here is a shot of Union Station under construction:
Here is a later photo:
A good start guys!
Nothing wrong with your photos. Glad to see you back Crandell.
Nothing new from the BRVRR this week. Some issues with web space.
Here is an old one from the website:
NYC #5335 at the head of a passenger train is passing Grafton Tower as switcher #874 works the team track.
Keep the photos and ideas coming guys. You always make this the best thread of the week!
Fascinating work everyone. And congrats to Crandell! It’s a very satisfying feeling when you get where he is right now.
I just decided to take the camera out for fantrip to Animas Forks over the jeep trails. Here I am in my Toyota LandCruiser FJ78 Troopy.
I passed through Sheridan on the way to AF. No trains, but saw this old truck hurrying ore to the railhead.
And the ditcher crew was arguing in the quarry behind the Oscar Wilde Mine over how to get the dump car back on the tracks.
When I got to AF, no train there either, but caught this moody shot as a t-storm rolled through the high country.
Got a good shot of the Haymarket Tramway buckets.
Wondered around the end of the tramhouse and a little TMI.
I headed up the trail to Cinnamon Pass to get a few shots of AF down below. Just as I was ready to shoot, Capt. Hotz, the Miner’s Union pilot, flew by in the Beaver. If it’s bad news, she’s hurrying some hurt miner to the hospital in Durango. If it;s good news, the latest shipment of whiskey and other fine liquors will be up behind the bar at the Miner’s Hall tonight.[B][D][:o)]

Mike: You’re getting some neat lighting effects with those LED’s! I’m holding off on “night” lighting, hoping the price on dimmable LED PAR30 “Daylight” bulbs will soon drop significantly. Then I’m getting rid of the CFL’s.
Garry: Thanks very much for taking the time to explain, and show, how you built that area. I’ve got some places that just don’t have room for actual structures, and what you’ve done really creates a sense of depth in that scene.
Mike
From the looks, the Ebay guy made the building flats using a program like Evan Designs “Model Builder” maybe with “Windows Designer” and “Sign Creator” added. I have these programs, and have made similar buildings. They are easy to use.

Thanks for the link,George!
Great Work Everyone!!!
I got a ‘new to me’ OMI Half Cab Trackmobile, & took a shot with the BLI one.
It’s actually a neat comparison shot, I think.
I really dig these 'lil critters!!!
Memorial day at Port Destiny Terminal brought all 3 steam locos still on the roster , 2 tank locomotives and a 2-10-0
Also the recently restored Coach / combine
The 0-6-0 was put to work as well
Plus the newest diesel was showed off
