Weekend Photo Fun 26-28 June 2015

Gidday All, well as it’s nearly Friday evening, and I’ve had enough for the week, (tomorrows another story[sigh]), so as far as I’m concerned it’s WPF time!! [:D]
Anyhow last WPF I mentioned my failed “5 minute project”, well after multiples of 5 minutes, here’s the result…

I wonder how many of these the Woodland Scenics moulds have turned out?
Looking forward to the really Good Stuff,
Have a Great One Ffolkes,

Thank goodnness it’s time for WPF. We could stand a bit more peace, love, and understanding around here this week.

Nice looking dozer, Bear, even if it did take 10 minutes or so.[swg]

If it needs some more TLC, then send it on over to the newly opened 9 Lives Cat House. The mechanics at 9 Lives promise to fix what ails your tractor, dozer or other piece of heavy duty equipment. Conveniently located at Tefft, 9 Lives recently moved to this modern, concrete-floored repair shop there. They handle all major brands, but specialize in yellow.

Despite the lack of interior detail yet, it looks pretty good at night.

Yeah, I’ve been thinking lately that some folk don’t have enough “5 minute projects” to keep themselves gainfully occupied.

I think I’d have to give it a wash first!![(-D]
Who made your dozer?
Cheers, the Bear.

My freelanced road freelanced unit- a SDSC40-2. Sd40 with a safety cab on it. Still needs light weathering and US flags on the nose. That details associate cab kit was a nightmare to put together.

Here is fun little speeder ride I had last weekend:

I touched up the signage on Goble Building Material.

Back at the Merry Widow Mine on the Cascade Branch, I added the tramway to carry the ore down to the bins from the mine high above. Here’s the cables are hung…

Then I added some Anvil Mountain Models buckets. Unforetunatelt, AMM is on hiatus right now, but this is the link (page down): http://www.anvilmountainmodels.com/Iowa-tiger-transfer.html

The trick of the eye is that it’s probably the world’s shortest tramway. The “tower” in this case is only a few inches away…

#1 heads up the grade with 3 more hoppers.

What to do with leftovers? Make another meal of them. I had a substntial part of the Grandt No Problem Joe’s kit left, so I built it in slightly modified form. Still not sure what it’s going to be. Maybe an assay office, maybe a funeral parlor/creamatorium, or?

Good stuff this week. Nice job on the dozer, Bear. The one I got had 2 right hand tracks, so, instead of taking it back, I made lemonade out of a lemon and used it for a broken down dozer at Blackwood Coal Co.

Great stuff this week everybody! Most of what I got accomplished was under the hood or perhaps more properly, shell. Last weekend I went to a tran show, bought some freight cars and some decoders.

Here’s some of the haul behind my I1sa that I kitbashed from a Minitrix 2-10-0. I also converted the engine to DCC.

And here’s some H32 hoppers I got for Father’s Day:

PJM20:

Wonderful video of the speeder trip. Looks like great inspiration for scenery treatment on a marginal Eastern branch or shortline. I’d love to see that represented on a model railroad. Reminds me a bit of the narrow gauge speeder trips we used to be able to take on the East Broad Top. Hopefully again some day.

Bear,

It’s a First Gear replica of an IH TD-15 dozer.

A passenger train goes by Serenity’s Sandwich Shack in the town of Grandt Cliff. High above is the Cliffside Mine:

Peace, love, and understanding has been in short supply.

One thing I understand is that I love weekend photo fun!

The amount of work you guys get done in a week is impressive. I’m still puttering along on my brewery. In the last week or two I’ve finished the office and started on the brick/stone boiler house:

I leaned the wall against the brewery for photographic purposes and to see the color matched ok. It’s supposed to be stone but I needed a darker color somewhere on the building so it’s kind of turning out to be a brick color. In a few minutes I’ll be adding a few more washes of gray for mortar.

I really enjoy the light, positive, and up-beat tone of wpf. Thanks guys!

Ray-

do you have a garden railroad or is your layout just that sunny anyway? It looks really good. That picture makes me crave sandwiches for some reason. [;)]

Had to rush the paint job to get this ‘tub’ ready for the launch. Just part of my harbor/marine section of my layout.

Ted, Bob, Ray, GP-9Man, Grampy, etc, etc, really oustanding work!

Ted,

A link to some of Ray’s stuff: http://cs.trains.com/mrr/f/88/t/246487.aspx

Hi Bob, Who makes the boat? I have been looking for HO scale full hull boats for the boat yard on the Boothbay layout. Lots of waterline models, full hulls are scarce.

Thanks! My layout is outdoors.

When I went to China in 2004, I bought this Bachman Spectrum GE 44 Tonner as a souvenir.

From the beginning I didn’t like it much for two reasons:

First: it was a Pennsylvania loco on a CNR layout.

Second: the engineer looked like a 10 years old.

Few weeks ago I took it from the shelf it was sitting on and proceeded to some modifications. I put a DCC decoder in it so I can run it on my layout that I converted to DCC some years ago, I stripped the paint, I repainted and decaled it as a privately owned switcher and I put a new engineer in it.

You can see it now switching at the grain elevator.

Not a great project but it helped at developing some new skills, namely soldering, painting and decaling.

This was a metal casting that I modified and added the top details using stryene. I bought a bunch of metal and brass ship model parts a few years ago but not sure who. They specialize in ship models. I will see if I can find anything on the other parts in my ‘inventory’ that has their name.

Here’s a shot before paint.

How about a Reading P-7 for the weekend.
