I had a few problems with the color seperation line, but they don’t look too bad[8)].
I put in 2 road crossings
not the best, but now my townspeople can actually leave town[:p]
I placed my POS 2-8-0 on display next to the depot
Heres what my yard looks like: I actually had this done last week but didn’t have time to take pics. The layout will be added on to in the direction the picture is looking so the yard will be double-ended when it’s done.
dingoix & Aggro, WOW!, GREAT PICS! was a good week for me, finished my E9, put lots of add ons on it, did paint work and decaling too. patched two of my engines and detailed them, and last, but not least, weathered my GP40 decaled and detailed it.
No Modeling (so far) - The weekend started Friday.
It was cold and raining as the Amtrak California Zephyr was over an hour late leaving
Denver Union Station. This left the UP 844 fans standing out in the rain for over an
hour. I really wished I would have brought my gloves. At 9:16 the headlamp finally
came on, and prepared for departure.
Held up by two facing freights it was another hour before the 844 got out of Denver.
The weather had cleared, almost enough to see the mountains in the background.
The train crept along on the rickety track.
The route was the old Kansas and Pacific through eastern Colorado. It passed
through many small towns that haven’t been visited by a passenger train for
decades. In Deer Trail they even sounded the civil defense sirens 5 minutes
before the train arrived so everyone could come out and see. Schools closed
and bussed the children to the tracks to watch the train go by.
From the first time I heard about the excursion, I knew I wanted a photo of the 844
passing the old roundhouse in Hugo. An unfortunate gust of wind at the exact wrong
moment caused the smoke and steam to obscure the shot, so the one
below is as good as it gets.
The further east one goes the more desolate the country gets. So three hours
behind schedule, and having been wet and fighting to keep rain off the camera all
day, I turned back right after Kit Carson. I ended with a final dark photo of the trai
Nice models thus far. Dingoix-the locos look fine. Aggro-I’ve still got that auction saved. I would’ve used just a bit more green, though. What kind of paint did you use for the green show-through?
Wow Great shots of the 844,Brings back alot of memories for me,I used to live in Loveland Colorado and seen the 844 and 3985 on many excursions in the early 80’s.
Dingoix, first off your Geep 30s look great. Second, no it’s not a U boat (CSX hasn’t had any U boats in a long time), it’s an ex B23/30-7 converted to a remote control drone. It has no prime mover or traction motors, so it’s basically an RC platform. A few other RC units that frequent the yard are:
Nice pics, everyone. Aggro, that weathering is GORGEOUS, as usual!! I’m in the midst of replacing a bridge on the Yuba River sub over Malakoff Hydraulic Mine Diggings, so I’ll hopefully post some pics of it by next weekend. Right now I’ve got Spring Concert, Baccalureate Mass and Graduation facing me at the high school, so probably not much time for the hobby until after May. Generally have to do all of my model railroading during the summer, anyway.

Howdy! Some great photos as always. I have been laying track on the new portion of the Seneca Lake, Ontario, & Western. Finally have run the first loco and small train (loco and caboose… Whoopie!) without any derails, dead spots, or other problems. I choose the USRA 2-6-6-2 for the first run as she is the largest lcoc in my roster and would be sure find any bad trackage for me… LOL BTW, that is not my final logo that is on the tender… I just taped a piece of paper on my locos so I remember which is which. I plan on getting decals of my road logo soon.
Here she lumbers across the bridges over the (Canandaigua) Outlet and What will be become Ontario St. Extention:
Here the loco and crummy enter the first section of the yard that is in front of (what will be) the Enamelware Factory (modeled after the old Lisk Factory in Canandaigua, NY):
I have also finally completed the Thompson Tiles Factory Building. It set about where it will end up on the layout after the rest of the scene is complete:
I have also been doing a lot of wiring and have installed my new Digitrax Super Radio Chief system. The Radio is awesome with the DT400 throttle.
