Gidday All, Don’t quite know where this week has gone, seem to have been running around like a headless chook, whilst not achieving much.
We went on to New Zealand Summer Time 0000 hours last Sunday, putting our clocks forward by one hour. I am finding it hard to get up at 0530 for w**k, when my body clock is telling me it’s only 0430, I must be getting old. [sigh]
So I have a good reason to really enjoy the weekend and am looking forward to the following contributions this weekend.
Yes it’s another Accurail kit that I managed to assemble, only extras, Kadee couplers and managed to hide another 1/2 ounce weight.
Nice car, Bear. You can always use more Pennsy cars, they were thick back in the day.
I caught a shot of 60 as she was backing onto a train as the standard gauge local’s power sits beside her.
I built a couple of baggage cars this week. They’ve got a piece of 1/16"x1" brass bar for the frame, with PSC step assemblies soldered on. I built up the rest, including adding the venting and an underbelly LPG tank for the genset. They’re not exactly prototype, but represent a modernized version of the standard Rio Grande NG baggage car.
I found this in a box of grain elevator parts I got from a modeler up north. It looks to me like one of the old Woodland Scenics metal structures. He says he put it together around twenty-five years ago so that would explain why I can’t find a reference to it online.
Mike, I guess I never thought about narrow gauge with diesels. For some reason I didn’t realize there was such a thing. Number 60 is certainly an interesting looking creature!
I am in the process of completely rebuilding my HO scale layout and along with the rebuild, I am modernizing. I don’t have any trains running, but here is a recent “modern receptacle” I picked up at the hobby shop and built…
This week I finaly finished a Tichy 10,000 gal tank car with Champ decals set
I also finished a Walthers heavy duty crane kit for Boothbay; we bought it by mistake thinking it was the one that fit the power plant kit, so we will be selling it for fund raising
I finished scratch building a 30’ boxcar this week. I still need to figure out what I’m going to do for lettering, but I’ll start painting it soon. It has Tichy arch-bar trucks on it and Kadee metal wheelsets. No real prototype, just having some fun building.
And here it is with an old 28’ boxcar I picked up at a train show last weekend.
After many years of service under Burlington northern, #724 gets the privilege of leading a short passenger train. Unfortunately a loss of oil pressure has returned 724 to the shop for a quick part exchange.
Nice start to the weekend folks! Jon… Wow! Just Wow!
I have been trying to get the staging on the SLOW finished so I can move onto several other projects needing to get done. I decided I don’t like having the blue sky come all the way down to the tracks,
So I added some forest scenery painted on the wall a la the Endless Mountains of the Southern Tier of NYS.
I also added some Bright White LED Strips from Micro Mark to light the Lower Staging. They are way too bright so I am now waiting on a dimmer to use in the area.
