Weekend Photo Fun 7/27-7/29

Reminds me of the Track Tug. Anybody remember that?

Sue,

I’ve been modeling steel mills and there equipment for more than four years. You have opened my eyes to the possibities of logging operations. I’ve always had a fond heart for shay locomotives, having seen only one in the smokey mountians. While vacationing in the smokey mountains in TN years ago. I ran across a three truck shay sitting in a field.

I’d like to visit Cass scenic railroad some day .Great modeling…keep up the good work.

Dragon River Steel Corp {DRSC}

I didn’t know people sold stuff like that on E-Bay.[:O] I’ll have to check that out![:D]

Spent some time in the train room yesterday, wired a bunch of track, cleaned some track, and then I got the bug to break out some rolling stock and test out the facilities. I ended up playing with some trains a bit and took a few videos too! Now that I have a loop set up I can run some trains while I work on other areas, here is a short video of a Southern loco hauling some empty Top Gons. The video is not top quality and not sure where some of the popping sounds are coming from, but this Kodax Easy Share is all I got!

Southern TopGon Empties

Crandell, Some how I missed this post yesterday. I love the activity at the station. Great shot.[bow]

Aggro, I checked out your gondola. Gorgeous.

Referring to our logs, they were cut out back. Not much work, nature made. I look for reasonably straight seedlings; harvest them; and let them dry. When we need more for the layout, I cut them to size. I used some of them on my log bridge.

Patrick, Shays are fun. After some NWSL parts, the little guy sure runs nice.

Here are some photos of my stockyard under construction.

SUE

That is outstanding,I have TWO of those old MDC SHAYS That I have worked over quit a bit,and just love them!!

JIM

Great pics (and vids) so far this week. Sue, I have to join the others and say I Love the video, I am looking forward to seeing more of your layout! Here are a few pics of my layout, hope you enjoy them.

There isn’t much new except the ATSF caboose at the crossing, and the SF loco I weathered yesterday. (I am not the best at weathering but at least it doesn’t look new). Mike

Nice pictures and video’s everyone. I have been busy on my first year of the BAH RR summary instead of working on the layout. I have reworked my web site (click on the WWW button in the signature block). Here is a link to a “old” video of mine - enjoy.

Lots of great stuff here as always!

Sue, excellent video of the Shay!

Yoshi, glad to see you’re still going strong in mrr - judging from your video you been quite busy!

(Crandel - I commented on your photo “across the street” )

Aggro - your work never ceases to amaze me!

Mike - I’ll be converting an Atlas GP38 into a GP38-2 like yours for my next project

Scott - glad to see you continuing work on the Steasel!

Here’s my contribution, a Kato SD38-2 I just painted into my namesake road’s colors. Toughest part was relocating the headlight from the numberboards to the nose.

That was then: http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e182/CSX_road_slug/2454_project/SD38-2_2454_B4_image_in_CNW.jpg

. . . This is NOW:

Jim, Did you put a NWSL regearing kit in yours? We also have a second one that is sitting on Larry’s desk. We thought that we would get one running before tackling the second. The MDC with the NWSL regearing out pushes the Bachmann 3-truck Shay. I guess it is time to attack the second Shay.

Mike, It is great to see some finished scenes. Is that a horse and a tractor in the back of the last photo?

Alan, I always like to see your town scenery. Is that a Proto 2000 0-6-0?

Ken, That is a gorgeous model. Good reference photos, too.

Sue

Yes, Sue, There is a farm house and barn back there. There are 2 horse back riders in front of the house and several tractors in the area around the barn. Thanks for asking. May post another pic if you would like to see it. Mike

Please. I enjoy the detail. When you do too much scenery, the details are a welcome relief.

Sue

Nice Videos, that Shay looks great!

Here are my little pics from the club layout. I aqcuired some new SP and Cotton Belt Power so I wanted to try them out on the local club layout (DCC). The pictures aren’t the best in the world because they are from my camera/phone but you get the idea [:)]. I purchased these units from a great guy in AZ, he did an excellent job on the detail work. You can’t notice it on these pics but I added a little more weathering to them.

Ok finally got the sky board painted 2 done 3 to go The new one is on the left 3 shades of light blue blended going from light to dark on the top I like this much better than the old on the right

Slow progress on the trees for the new skyboard on the window sill

All that paint can get you high. I could probably get some college kids to

do the paint for free

Thanks ! Yes it is one of the three P2k 0-6-0’s that I now run. It, and the other 2, have now been re-branded to the BAH RR.

I’ve been in a dry spell with work eating up all of my time and then some. Yesterday, I started to get some basic ground cover down over some plaster that has been sitting for over 3 weeks.

Regards,

Tom i really like your back drop !

Is it a photo ?

Well, I finally got all the pieces and parts from Walthers to finish my Wisconsin Central GP7M.

Here are the prototype photos:

Here is my attempt at modeling it…

Edited:

I darkened the side vents, painted the frame around the brakeman’s window, and painted the edges of the front and rear stairs today.

I still have to fix the number boards, add the rear ditch lights, and lightly weather it. But otherwise, this is my first attempt at a truely prototypical model. I know I didn’t correct the front window, but like I said before, I’m new at this.

Thanks Terry. Yes it is. Took photos into PhotoShop to touch up and then printed using some shareware poster printing s/w.

Regards,

Sue, Here are a few more pics as promised, I hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I did building it. Mike

I still have some work to on the red barn, I want to put in a side door and paint the trim then weather it.
