Another week gone by, So here’s what my club has been doing on and off lately- Tree parties.
Our goal is to get those hillsides covered by the begining of november. We have 150+ puffball trees ready to go, as soon as we get more 3M adhesive spray.
While this has supposed to be for models, I haven’t really done much work on any models this week. But, I did go out railfanning and catch a rare “duck”.
A wheeling and Lake Erie High hood heritage unit, on tracks that hadn’t seen a train since 2009.
I’m off tomorrow, so after watching them put the bridge up further down on this line, I might do some hobby work. Let’s see the good stuff.

My progress this week isn’t easily shown in photos! I think I finally got some headway in getting my Digitrax Duplex throttles to perform better. I had been having difficulty in getting any kind of range and at the suggestion of forum member Paul Cutler I downloaded and installed updated firmware for the UR-92 panels and the DT-402 throttles. THEN I discovered a note in the UR-92 instruction sheet that says UR-92s will NOT work unless provided with a 14 VDC supply! Here, I was only giving them 12.3 volts! SO, with great progress in that arena I ran a train of private cars on their way to a convention…

I uploaded a 6 minute out-the-window video of the ride on this Shinkansen to the thread earlier, which was enroute to Kyoto, where it’s pictured in the station in the above pic.
The only place we really update (unfortunately), is our club’s facebook page. As far as I know, you don’t need to even be signed up for facebook to look at the page and see the photos. I’ll talk to our secretary/treasurer to see if she can upload some more photos when she has time.
Jimmy … Your photo of 107 is interesting. It appears to be a second generation GP Unit (GP 35 perhaps) with high hood and with Alco trucks.

Ed … That is an impressive passenger train. I have ridden in a CP dome observation, but it was in the VIA Rail era and painted accordingly. Reminds me of the original California Zephyr.
Casey … I’m very impressed with your recent accomplishment. It sounds like you are getting ready for another one.

Here is a Great Northern passenger train. I included a heater car because the F3’s are freight versions without steam generators.
At the NMRA National Convention a couple of weeks ago, we debuted some new buildings along the Wallace Brothers track at the back of East Yard on the Operations Road Show layout.
Everything along the skyboard is new. These new buildings, built by Walt Trancygier, replace a number of pedecessors that were faceless hardboard placeholders. Walt did a terrific job on these, and really made the back of the scene “pop.”
Once the layout is reassembled at its home base, we’ll continue scenery work. Since these buildings are still loose, we’ll shift Twin Cities Storage (the blue building) to the left so that we can properly spot a boxcar at the right-most door.
Gary - Good picture. I have to build a heater-car for my NYC freight/passenger locos.

In keeping with the passenger car theme (sorta) from earlier:
Pennsy K-4 #1361 rounds the curve at the east end of the BRVRR layout with a short train of arch-roofed passenger cars.

I made some good progress on the G scale covered bridge this week. The track, roof trusses, and side panneling are installed. The roof is in the paint shop.

I have been slowly working on more scenery at the back of where Milo Mills will be on the layout. Need to get this area pretty much done before I finish the Plywood base for where the town proper will be. Since I posted last I have added ground cover and some of the trees on the area just past the liftout section.
Arind the other side of the town I have added ground cover tree armitures, and the beginninbgs of a wooden fence that will be a cow pasture all the way around the area. Long and narrow path to a larger area for grazing shown in the first photo. The cattle will have to be driven across the tracks morning and night each day they use that pasture.
