Weekend Photo Fun 7 - 9 September.

Gidday All, Haven’t contributed for a little while, now that it’s coming into spring and the daffodils are blooming here in the Antipodes, there’s lawns to mow, trees to prune, and the vegetable garden to dig over.

I have enjoyed viewing the previous WPFs though.

The LHS which was just 2 miles down the road in the village closed recently and now the nearest is 37 miles away. Was working over that way and had an early day so managed to drop in and see the wares. Amazingly had a small selection of Accurail Kits so picked up 4 including a twin pack of stock cars. The owner said that kits aren’t good sellers but did say he would order in specific kits for me if I so desired. Hooray!!

As its now 2030 on a damp Friday evening and as I’ve waffled enough , here’s one of the Accurail kits I’ve had time to assemble.

Have A Good One Folks. [:)]

Cheers, the Bear

Gidday Bear, thanks for starting the thread.

I always enjoyed Accurail kits when I was in HO.

Gidday to the Down Under guys!

Here is a Genesis F3 Phase 4.

Hello Everyone,

Here are some before and after shots on my layout…

After…

Cardboard mockup of roof design for Paradise Palms pier nightclub (based loosely on Balinese Room in Galveston). N Scale person’s perspective view.

Finished model will have a thatched look.

Side view shows that pier pilings are WAY TOO HIGH for the seawall. I would like pier floor to be one or two steps aboard the seawall, not a full story.

I will need to cut ¾ inch EVENLY off each of the 65 pilings to adjust the height.

Side view also demonstrates that the figures dining and dancing inside will be at slightly visible from the outside.

I was going to show this off on Photo Fun 2 weekends ago, but my Nikon Coolpix L24 went haywire after 15 months and approximately 2000 images of service. These relatively inexpensive cameras cost less to buy new than the minimum repair service charge. I got a new Nikon Coolpix L26 to take these pictures, my THIRD Nikon Coolpix.

Garry nice f unit,

LEIGHANT: I was going to comment that it looked like the Balinese room in Galveston then I read your description. you know IKE blew the Balinese room away.

Great work everyone.

Bear- I may need to get a couple of those cars.

Off to a great start!

Finished (ok, 95%) scenicking a reversing loop / staging module for our Free-moN group:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8za35S-VrUM

So it’s ready to roll at the Great Train Expo show next week.
Now to get to the other two modules I have “in progress”!

Have a great weekend!

MC, how many layout sections make up that reverse loop? I assume it’s DCC, what kind of reverse controllers did you use?

There are 5 sections:

Handlaid curved turnouts & wye (all #8).

I installed a PSX-AR auto-reverse circuit, and it works great (we also use on on our other loop/wye module.

I’ve included a lot fo the construction details on this Free-moN thread (includes the long staging yard, too).

Cheers!

Very nice MC.

I started the benchwork on my new N scale layout today. It is two 8’ modules which will form an L shape layout. I’ve finished both frames and I managed to get the legs on one of the modules and brace it.

and here is an overall view of the room. The bookcase on the right of shot will be moved allowing the layout to push into the corner.

The post closest to the camera will not interfere. the module is off the wall 3’ to allow access during construction.

Glad I was able to find a second EMD 1500, Relly like the light package the prototypes…

Here are a few pics from my trip to Altoona PA last weekend.

An old Berwind-White coal hopper sitting in Claysburg PA

This is in the museum in Altoona PA

The GP7 or 9? that sits at Horseshoe curve.

Old Reading Co. tank car used for diesel fuel service.

I’m currently building two of Walther’s Bud’s Trucking Company buildings for use on Slate Creek…These will be industries.

Alamo Society of Railroad Engineers layout, same location.

New on the roster NP415 vo1000 ,just out of the shop (sound & some detail parts ) in need of some weathering…

A bit of a treat in St. Louis this weekend

This area and scene looks SUPER fake. It is just unrealistic in so many aspects of it. It is also very compressed and cluttered.

My project of detailing a Steeple cab electric locomotive. It was a very basic plasitc kit that can be made to look really good. Here is the shell before and after the handrails and other wire detail were installed and after.

After:

I will see if I can get any more work done on my other electric locomotive this weekend.
