Let get the Weekend Rolling !

Carl…

Glad to see the weekend photo fun is back, starting to seem like the old forum. Here is some pics of what I have been doing for the past couple of weeks.

The first two are the lumber shed, lots of time in making all the stackc of lumber. Still have some more to do on it.

This is looking across the back of the lumder yard.

The church and Red River Diesel

The last is of a fictional place.

Enjoy… Have a great weekend. Mike

I don’t have pretty finished scenery to show. However; it is bridge time for me. The two lower (smaller) bridges are installed; the upper will have to wait for more mountain to be constructed. Since the picture (last night), I have put plaster on the screen shown here.

Nice work. Mike, did you do a complete interior for the building in the last picture? It looks great. How did you do the chain-link fence?

Alan, is that part of a helix? It looks like a lot of climbing going on. How much is going to be hidden, and how much will be running outside along narrow ledges?

I picked up a Sprite of Conrail GP38 and Conrail Quality caboose at the shop, and ran a Conrail Heritage train. Although, I don’t have any CNJ cars, so that’s missing from the train.

Yes - it is a three loop mountain scene for a total climb of 24" ( 2 % grade). The part along the walls is all hidden as is part of the outside surface. The loop is my connection between a flatlands community and two mining communities in a point-to-point layout. A picture of the climbing loops:

I have documented the layout progress on the Layouts forum. The last thread is:

I will update this thread later this weekend. The first post includes a link to the prior thread (if you get bored and want to read a lot !)

I have been working on my fascia today. It’s pretty high at this point, forcing the viewer to look at the hanging bridge from the right side of the benchwork. My length is 181 cm and I can’t see the bridge from the left side of my benchwork. Exactly as I want it to be.

I learned one importent thing when I did the backdrop a couple of weeks ago. First I used my Black & Decker and that was NOT good on masonite, it’s so easy to force the screw right thru the masonite by mistake. Believe me, the Black & Decker will not stop:

Use your screwdriver instead and take it very easy with the masonite:

It’s been a while for me. Work … work … work.

Well my 30 day vacation started today ! Off to the train show in Temple, Tx. and then off to work on my RR. Hope to post progress over next 30 days. Can hardly believe it.

I’m curious. Doesn’t your B & D have 2 speed settings? My Dewalt does as well as a clutch to prevent this problem. Just curious…

GUB

MisterBeasley, Yes as a matter of fact I have several buildings with detailed interiors. Here are a few more pics;
This is the same building as befor

This is a closeup of the interior of the shop

The General Store open late night

The chainlink fence is made from tulla I got from Wally World and the barbed wire is simply gray thread Thanks for responding. Mike

GUB, Yes my Black & Decker have 5 or 6 settings and I’m sure I can use them if I want. But it’s not easy and It feels like I’m loosing all control so I use my hand instead for soft materials like masonite. But for regular wood I use the Black & Decker. It’s one of the best tools I have.

Here are some more photos. I will add more cardboard strips and masking tape tomorrow.

One more thing, hotglue is really hot [B)]

Great escapes - Tony and Maria get away from the family. It’s a DPM townhouse, with Tichy fire escapes added today.

One more thing: CA really sticks to your fingers.

I can almost hear Tony and Maria singing, “There’s a place for us…”

MisterBeasley, Just for the record, I have got Tony and Maria in the parking lot at Joe’s Scoot-A-Boot Mike

Wow guys. Your right, I smiled when I saw Carl with the Weekend Photo thread. Great call buddy! Just like old times! Carl, that scene looks so good man. Nice job on the track, Im jealous.

Mike, your use of lighting is so impressive. I made the mistake of showing my wife… “Oh honey, that looks so nice, you should do that.” Thanks, like I needed more on my list.

And I cant wait to see how that mountian of tracks and bridges is going to come out. That will be an impressive scene with trains running on that. Still love your track plan, talk about outside the box…

Looking good everyone![:-^]

I am so pleased to see the initiative to resurrect this thread…good job! Also, I have enjoyed all of your pictures…very nice work everyone.

I hope to join you in the future, but for now, still building my layout and dealing with hardshell on steep cloth slopes. Also, I have to get filme developed.

Keep it coming.

I see lot of nice work. I will have some new PIC’S of my extention in few weeks.

I took some shots this weekend too. Played a little with the lighting…

An A-B set of Baldwin RF-16 sharks meets an L1s 2-8-2 with a coal drag near East Mifflin, PA in July 1956.

Another meet at LEW tower where the Lewisport Secondary connects with the Middle Division.

A father and his two sons fish in Jack’s Run, oblivious to the passing freight on the bridge above.

Another photo of downtown Lewisport in 1956. Traffic in town seems a little light today.
