Weekend Photo Fun Dec. 9 &10

Sat. afternoon and no WPF, so I guess I’ll start the show with “Cody’s Recovery & 24 Hr Wrecker service”. Located just down the road from Joe’s Scoot-A-Boot.

This is a pic of the impound yard, Notice the 10’ chain link fence between the RR yard and the impound yard.

Here we have a couple of fender benders Cody piched up last weekend in front of the Scoot-A-Boot about 2:30 AM

Just another view of the impound yard.

Enjoy Mike

Great pics Mike. I love the wrecked cars.

I don’t have any pics, but I have a world class mess. Working on the bottom of the canyon, carving to get the trestle in, it does work, putting in the the top stream bed, I poured the first layer of water tinted to look like glacial run off. I am starting the bottom falls, and reworking the table legs so the feature shows better. I need to have it ready for an open house in a week, so I will post an update then.

I found this cafe kit at a swapmeet a while back. You know the kind, no instuctions, missing parts, halfway started. First I added some signs, then some clear windows, put in some of the interior iteams, painted the roof and added some details. I’m going to try to frame the corners, door and windows to make them look better. The walls have some warpage, & the roof does not quite fit right. I hope to use this as a background building as the kit is of vintage standards and lacks the detail of todays kits. But the kit cost only $2.

Great pics guys,

I’m still working through the pile of kits I ‘collected’ last year… you know how it is, all those must have now items… that sit in a closet for 12 months. Anyway, this morning was 20degrees here down in the South so no work for me [:D] , I decided to put together the Cornerstone City Station, it went together really nice and no troubles, all it needs now is some details and a little grime… oh, and a layout to sit on.

Have fun & be safe
Karl.

great pics everyone. Mike, like art I really like the wrecked cars. Gives a realism to the scene. Still working on benchwork here. Hopefully will have it done by monday or tuesday.

Great pics Mike - I’m a UP guy, but I’ve never seen the paint job you have on that crummy - is it a MOW job or what?

Great work Guys

Love the impound lot Mike

How did you damage the cars ?

A junk yard dog would look good in that scene

I kitbashed a small hotel next to the passenger station

Their really was a Dun Glenn Hotel accross the river from Thurmond

So i call mine the Dun Rovin

The fire marshall says i need to add a fire escape to the top floor

I’ll offer a photo I took a while back and which was used on the cover of the NMRA Bulletin. It depicts an NYO&W class P camelback drifting across a long viaduct, similar to a real one that’s situated west of the Hudson. It looks like it was a nice autumn day for a steam-era photo excursion.

Here’s a couple of shots of my recently completed Behemoth Helix.

The stack-up on one side:

It’s been a couple of weekends now since I’ve made any progress.

Last work back in late Nov was to get the backdrop up and start painting that. Also continuing to work on getting cork down.

And, there really is a Santa Claus. Friday, after weeks and weeks of indecision, I decided to add another Mikado to my roster. Friday morning I ordered a new BLI T&P Mikado from my LHS. Saturday morning I stopped in for some other supplies and the owner said, look what came in yesterday for you !

Now, I’ve just got to make time and keep working on the RR.

Fascia going in nicely…Masonite bends better when you spray “wet water” on it. Lighting going in today - Lights Of America undercounter 14w lights that plug together. After football, pre-cut valance wll go on.

Niiiiiiiice… That really captures the Old & Weary! I spent time as a lad with my father following stretches of abandoned ROW of the NYO&W. I never saw it run, but you’ve got the NY/PA border area down pat.

great work everyone. Hopefully I can contribute in the coming month(s) - especially after Christmas, when I’ll have some extra money burning a hole in my pocket…

The RIX bridge I ordered showed up at my LHS this week, so I unwrapped it and set about installing it on my layout, where the road crosses over the track down to the subway tunnels. The bridge was, indeed, “a bridge too far,” so I brought out the hobby knife and my trusty Dremel and cut it down to size. I built up some terrain to raise it up just high enough for the subways to get under, and now I’m letting the plaster cloth dry before I put in the roads and Gypsolite for ground cover.

Here, the first train emerges from the tunnel and ducks under the bridge.

As always, click to enlarge, but don’t try to focus on the bridge. This is done with available light using a digital snapshot camera, so it set its fully automatic, no-manual-focus a few inches closer than I wanted. Think of it as “art” because the background is fuzzy.

Progress today on the White Pass and Yukon in HOn3…

A river runs through here.

I like curves, grades and bridges.

This will be the site of the Skagway shops.

Well, here is another car i have been messing with since i posted the last a few hours ago. Cant really get the hang of it all think my weathering ability is missing something besides the need of more experiance and time?
