Nice work everyone. Here’s my contribution for this week:
(RE: the pix of the switcher, looking at its rear end)
I just snagged a nice photo of the REAL thing, off Railpictures (or whatever that site is called)…looks remarkably like this same shot. I wanted it, due to the MU hoses (? I think that’s what they are) it had hanging down, just like your photo shows.
The reason for THAT is because I’ve just gotten back home from a trip to the “big city” where they had a decent sized hobby shop…and I asked if any manufacturer made such things, in h.o. scale, that looked realistic. I was shown a small see thru bag of what looked like bits of tiny black, thin plastic. Didn’t look at ALL like the ones you have…so, can you cough up the secret? Did you buy them, or scratch build them?
I think my cab forward looked better. Let’s figure out a time to swap loco’s. I have a brass loco with your name on it sitting in the train house.
Love it, but here’s a secret. Either kill the flash, or don’t let it reflect on the engine. 99% of the time, flash on models is too much light for night, and makes it obvious it’s a model.
Its the Athearn model and the MU hoses are factory installed, I just did a very light bit of weathering to suggest a newly painted unit. Regards Jon.
The refection is deliberate, If you use flash on the real thing at night you get reflections of the glass as well, The other photos I have posted on here in the past are taken without flash like this one: Regards Jon
WHAT! Your’e not going to take advice from an EXPERT? I actually like both of your pictures, and like you I agree your flash shot looks like the real thing at night. Your yard ballast looks exceptionally well done.
Bob … That looks just as good as John Allan’s G&D RR. Outstanding scene! [tup]
Oh, you mean like this?
This is the kind of photo I thought of when I saw your switcher photo - very O Winston Link(ish). I think it came across very well.

Missouri & Arkansas Railway track repair at Hawk Point.
Good start everyone. Keep them coming.
Crandell, another great photo of a beautiful steam locomotive.
Here’s one from the BRVRR a while back.
Santa Fe FP-45 #5945 Heads a short eastbound passenger train on the BRVRR layout. The FP-45 started life as an Athearn BB kit in Milwaukee Road colors. I repainted and decaled it and installed a Soundtraxx DSD101-LC decoder and 1" speaker. I sounds and operates great. Here it is in a lash up with its brother #5941 which also has a sound decoder, but hasn’t yet been detailed.
Keep the pictures coming guys. This is aways the best thread of the week.
Well this my first WPF thread and my first real attempt at model railroading. I model N scale and this just a simple switch scene using Kato track I’m going to use for a photo contest. The loco is a US Army VO1000 by Atlas and thew US Army flat car and boxcar are both from Micro Trains. Sorry about some of the bad lighting, I’m still getting used to use a camera. - Peter
Great work everyone, there is a lot of great talent here! Kudos to all!!!
Well, let me give it a try. (Full Moon Madness)
This is a shelf display/dio (18" x 8") that I built for photography in more of a natural environment (than all the containers in the background). I wanted something to remind me of NE IA along the Mississippi Valley. Yeah, I took some ‘artistic license’ with some materials, & extras, but I am also learning & trying new things with it.
The first is a box stock Blackstone K-27 & D&RGW Long Caboose, shot at a different angle than the AC6000.
The work on the BLI AC6000 was done by me, subtle weathering, detail painting, & swapped out the blue LED’s for Yellow-glow, as discussed in other posts. (they are ‘on’ in the photo).
Any suggestions/comments/concerns are welcome!
Chad, great looking trees & bluffs!..
I’m still trying different views with the new camera (Pentax K-x).
Hey, Thanks!
Your shots are really nice, I like your scenes.
The trees are a mix of SuperTrees with mixed Noch leaf foliage (that I can’t find anymore), Busch Spruce (yes, I coned the big one), few different styles & sizes of JTT’s, Woodland Sceneics Foilage Limb pack, & a couple hidden Bachmann Conifers in there too. I didn’t want all the trees to match in style or texture. The Base is foam with a few WS plaster molds, joint compound contoured with a cut down hair comb, & real limestone from a pile on the farm. Sprayed it all brown, heavy dry brush ‘straw’ latex, & detailed with artist oils, & some powders in some areas. The contrast in the pic washes out the rocks depth in my shots, but it gives a decent representation.
Thanks again for the compliment, it’s appreciated!
Its not a photo rather a very short video of a FVM ES44Ac with working ditch lights.

My mining scene is getting nearer finished, I couldn’t wait for the glue to dry, so it looks more like snow than gravel on the ground, sorry.

Well, I must have been using a fast clock, since I planted, grew, cut, and baled a field of hay after lunch today.
Great photos, everyone.
Jim
This potash hopper looks good. It’s one of the best pictures on this weeks Sunday Photo Fun. People seem to NOT comment on weathered stuff like they do on scenery pictures but I see MORE skill in weathering myself. This is good.
