Weekend Photo Fun July 24/26

You guys continue to set the bar so very high. It keeps me motivated. I only have an update of a scene I have shared many times, but am looking to master the colors to move on to the next section.

Can you see the difference?

Nige,

Where is your layout? Is this in an outbuilding? I see the metal in the background.

Good Video Larry !

You done a great job on the scenery and i really like the way the black paint on the

edges and overhead frame the layout scenes

Thanks Terry. I got the idea for the black edging from Ted York’s Cajon layout during a Great Basing Getaway. Some photos of that beautiful layout:

Working on the new yard extension… Inspired by Enola, PA.

Track is Atlas Code 55.

Wow Dave, big extension. Will this be the business end of the yard, or do you plan to add to the other side for working the yard tracks? I ask as I do not see a very long tail/drill track.

This is all I have room for at the moment. The plan is someday when I don’t have to worry about portability to go ahead and double the length. The drill track is indeed fairly short, but overall this extension, limited though it is, will greatly expand ops. It consists of 1 staging track, 1 main (that doubles as staging), drill w/ lead, 6 classification tracks, 1 cabin track, a switchback, 3 diesel shop tracks and 2 relay tracks.

Looks like loads of operating interest.

Awesome work this weekend y’all!

Finally got my locos all put back together, except for the windows, which will remain out until the locos are weathered (rs1 has one of MANY coats to come):

Also, finally painted and built this kit:

In and amongst helping a friend build some benchwork, I made some serious headway on my roundhouse project.

Another side benefit of doing decoder installations is a growing volume of surplus light boards. These came in very handy for lighting this project, especially the old Kato boards with the incandescent lamps.

Clap on!

This is the rear side, which has to cut in in a couple of places to allow the main line to pass behind the building. I fully detailed this side even though it won’t be visible in current layout configuration…because you never know where it might be needed next!

Next I’m working on the roof, then it’s on to the back wall sections!

Lee- [bow] we are not worthy. I LOVE the roundhouse, especailly the look fully lit!

Agreed! It’s a beauty!

I got some good finds in an antique shop. Athearn GP-35 and GP-??, possibly 40. I also got a Grand Trunk boxcar, GN airslide hopper, two weathered Soo bulkhead flats, and two ore cars without trucks that I can use to make into another ballast car.

The Soo Unit is a GP30, the other is a GP40-2.

Lately I’ve been torturing myself putting together an HOn3 drop bottom gondola kit by Grandt Line. It’s a fantastic kit, but lots of very small parts.
