Weekend Photo Fun June 8-10

Gidday All, to SouthCoastRail, regarding the lack of content last weekend, I think our northern colleagues are too busy enjoying outdoor summer pursuits, plus getting the benefits of soaking up that vitamin D.Having had a quick nosey at your blog site, I reckon some of your photos, especially those containing the Garrattt certainly wouldn’t go amiss here.

P&Slocal commented that last weekends episode got off to a slow start so as it is now 1759 hours on Friday here in the Antipodes, here goes:

Fabricated and fitted some steps and grab irons and gave my free lanced kitbashed covered hopper a coat of paint, boy does a photo show up the flaws. [:$]

Any how have a Good One Folks,

Cheers,the Bear.

Bear, nice looking car. Keeping with covered hoppers, here are this weeks completed freight cars!

Bower 1958CF ACF Covered Hopper kit, painted white and lettered with Herald King Decals.

Eastern Car Works 1958 ACF Covered Hopper painted Gray and lettered with Champ Decals. Could not determine from many sources if the GN ever painted their covered hoppers in this scheme!

Atlas 3500CF ACF Covered Hopper, painted gray and lettered with Highball Graphics decals.

Thanks for looking!

Here’s an old photo of the 2 car local crossing the river just past the bait camp

Looking forward to the LSR convention home tour here in Houston today and tomorrow

My Athearn passenger cars I bought off Ebay. I payed $40 for all six! Of course, I added new trucks, wheels, plus kadees, paint and decals. Most of my curves are 30 or better but I have a few 24 inch radius that I figured would cause problems with full length passenger cars. This was my first attempt at airbrushing and decals. I still have the diaphragms to add but I wanted to post a picture now.

.

Seems kind of low, don’t you think?[:D][:P][;)]

Hoppers!

Nice work from everyone, this week.

Great start with great photography. … DJ: Nice shot of the Pennsy K4s.

Here is an SD9 with a local train. Burlington SD9’s had dual controls enabling them to run long-end forward. Therefore. the units would not require turning at the end of the line for a return trip.

Is that why it is called a Short Line? (lower right of picture) [:-^]

Wasn’t there a model railroad in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs? Could be that very one!

Great Modeling everyone. Here are some pictures of a K4s coal drag going through a PL signal:

Great modeling everyone. This is a finished section of my new layout.

Gidday, Always get inspired viewing all the “Good Stuff” here.

Rick J & TerryinTexas, some years ago my kids, knowing that I was building up an open hopper roster for hauling coal, bought me this Frateshi open hopper kit with money from their paper run. At the time I turned down the “pizza cutter” wheel flanges, cut off the original coupler and fitted Kaydees. Not knowing Spanish from a hole in the ground, I justified it as a “Visitor from Mexico”.

Much later I discovered that the Spanish was actually Portuguese [%-)] and that the actual prototype was Brazilian. For sentimental reasons I was not about to banish the car from the railroad, was thinking of hiding it amongst the MOW rolling stock.

However this thread http://cs.trains.com/TRCCS/forums/p/206090/2254829.aspx#2254829 came up and as I was in the process of assembling some Bowser and Tichy cars for cement service, and also discovering, while carrying out research, the PRR H32 outside braced covered hoppers, and as I model a freelanced railroad, I thought that this car would do as a donor to practice my styrene working skills, or rather lack of. [:)] All the extra parts have been made from plain styrene sheet, I’d recommend to any one who was to give Kitbashing a crack to buy the right sized stock for smaller items, I find cutting a 0.10" x 0.50" strip from sheet stock is challenging !!

The main thing is that I’ve had Fun, I think ??[:D]

Cheers,the Bear

Having fun trumps all else !!

Many Companys produce thier own cars and some are real odities you should seek out some
