I managed to get this Shay working. It’s been a shelf baby for the better part of a decade. But installing a keepalive and replacing the wheels has made it run reliably.
Good morning
I’ll keep-em!
Love the Bear-Toons Bear!
It’s kinda like swimming in the waters with a dolphin around. And ya do a turn around maneuvering, SURPRISE!
There’s the Bear! Like tripple double dolphins on the slot machine or something like that

Thanks Peter for starting this weeks WPF. Such stunning pictures by everyone.
Well done.
Not seen the train room this week let alone done anything.
Old picture of a train of gunpowder vans with a empty ‘Baxter’s’ van acting as a barrier wagon
Another old scene this time at part of Crown Point Yard. The little locomotive is ‘Percy’ from Thomas the Tank range, renamed ‘Zephyrus’.

Can I ask if the brick facings are a Chooch product or something else and how did you attach them ?
LOTS of excellent participation and great photos this weekend! Even the bridgemeister has made a showing!
Most of my bench-time this week was spent with ‘reworking’ a Broadway Limited USRA Mikado to give it more of a Nickel Plate Road look.I didn’t get any photos of that so far. I did find a couple of fun additions to the rolling stock roster, though.
First up is this Overland Pennsy F59 well hole flat car:

This should be a pretty simple paint and decal job with those nice, welded sides. Then I stumbled across this nifty Milwaukee Road ‘spent grain’ box car. I like the uniqueness of the roof hatches and the simple “Miller Blob” stencil on the door!

I’m pretty sure none of these cars made it into my neck of the Ohio woods but there was a Dad’s dog food plant in Meadville, PA that possibly could have used spent grains? I’ll have to do some digging on that.
Cheers, Ed
Added a couple more sections to the west end of Sleepy Eye MN. Once it curves to the left we may enter a portal to South Dakota.
Heathmiestsr very nice looking good keep us updated.

Love that Boxcar Ed, ‘it’s something else’.
‘Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder’, as they say.
This one of my all-time favourite Locos and Liveries.
She is one of only two Athearn Genesis models that I have and they are both my Pride and Joy, more so since I had to save my money towards importing them from the States, to the UK and they are my Prestige model Locos.
Since it is WPF, I thought I’d get her out of her Box and enjoy the spectacle of watching her run around my layout.
When their Lease expired BNSF, returned some Locos to EMD, who re-Leased 9554 to NS. Unfortunately she is by now, scrapped.
I first caught onto Executive SD70MACs from YouTube vids, which prompted a spasm of research to find out more about them.
Under the PRLX / NS Reporting-mark, I can run them on my layout, or I might just decide to Lease them myself and save them from the Scrapper.
One thing that Genesis models do is to make me realise just how dated my B/Box models are, but I love all of those as well.
Paul.
Good looking locomotive!
Rich
Hi Seth,
I first caught a glimpse of your layout in Tom Klimoski’s book, ‘Right sized Layout’.
I thought, that looks good - has it ever been shown in any publications, please?
Paul.
Hi Paul, Yes my layout has been featured a number of times in Model Railroader. The latest (Model Railroading: The Ultimate Guide 2020) is probably the best. It was photographed by friend Gerry Leone and covers the layout very well. I believe it is still available from the Trains.com store.
Great work, everyone!
Seth, really nice job!
Regards, Chris
I didn’t do much work this weekend other than milling and wiring a decoder into an old Con-Cor DL-109 (It still needs a little bit of work to get everything to fit just right).
But I DID go to the Kingston Train Show today, and made a couple acquisitions!
I’m considering making that GP-9 my first LokSound install, since it would have the Hancock air whistle making it a unique sounding loco, but we’ll see what I decide, LOL!
Another delightful exhibition of making the most of the hobby. From Heathmiester’s cool scrap hauling and track work to John’s grave diggers. And Rick turning out a couple more nifty models.
Got a soft spot for the NP two tone green Passenger cars that NewBNguy is running. Oh, I really like Willoughby Junction, so much wonderfulness to witness.
Good to see DFF’s wood chip loader come on line with a nice looking Geep at work.
TF’s viaduct is grand and hoping he won his last bout of ‘kung foam fightin.’
Great to see Al having fun with that nice PA. First layout or last layout we never stop learning and practicing.
Dan, good feeling in reviving an old project. Oh yeah! Liking tbdanny’s pine woods logging engine.
Always love seeing David’s layout shots, gosh didn’t recognize Percy. Also like checking out what Ed’s been up to, my-o-my, that’s a unique industrial load and MILW car.
Paul, Yep, looking at PRLX 9554 just feels good, but I know what ya’ mean, after tasting such a finely crafted model it’s easy to become jaded with those of lesser detail.
Seth, Nice application and technique, the realism achieved with oil paint weathering is amazing.
I dunno’ N_Scale_Train_Boy, milling a frame and wiring a decoder sounds like a lot to me.
Of course WPF never feels whole without those Bear visits.
Thanks to all the contributors and viewers. Also, thanks for all the nice comments and likes. Have a good week ahead. Regards, Peter
