Well this weekend I finally got back to building the second control panel for my layout. The LEDs and switches are mounted. I’ve decided to go with 3 DS64s (one is mounted and two on backorder from Tony’s) to control the turnouts on this half of the layout. I’ve mounted them on the backside of the control panel on 1/8" hardboard on standoffs. Today I begin wiring it all up.

The backside

The front

Still working on plywood sub-roadbed and cork roadbed and just starting to get some track prepared for the staging yard. Here is what I got done this weekend:

Sheet cork and cork roadbed transition

Cork roadbed painted grey for ballast color

Plywood painted earth tone

Great work everyone.

I started constructing a signal bridge. The bridge itself is almost finished, except for the service walkways:

I’m still working on wiring the six signal heads needed (two for each track). After I have them tested and mounted, I will finish installing the service walkways & guard rails.

I also painted and ballasted some more of my yard tracks, but the pics are monumentally uninteresting.

A High Hood GP30 that I started to paint.

(yeah, I know its already Tuesday) Not too much new for me- An Athearn BB CNW GP50 is on the way, and I’m planning on repainting my GP40-2 to CNW. Hopefully I can get the paint and decals before Xmas, but we’ll see (lotsa other things to buy, such as track and buildings)
