Weekend Photo Fun - October 27th - October 29nd, 2023

This is the weekend thread where modelers can show their completed models, work under construction and layout pictures new and old.

Let’s have a lot of participation this weekend!

Rick Jesionowski

Good morning from partly cloudy and warm Northeast Ohio!

I did not complete anything this week, but I have some pictures of a Tangent Sam Rea Class H51c 4600CF Covered Hopper kit I was working on.

This first picture is the kit after I completed all the bracing and adding the main air line to the model.

These next two pictures show the end cages on the A and B ends of the car after adding all the braking piping and rods and the grabs and ladders.

This is the finished kit, ready to apply paint, with the sill steps, roof, coupler lift bars and outlet gates all installed.

A Kato GP35 and Stewart U25B with a general freight train, running on the Strongsville OH club layout.

Have a great weekend!

Thanks for starting out WPF this week, Rick. I recently picked up a Tangent undecorated tank car kit and plan to start it sometime soon. I think the assembly instructions are 30 pgs. [:O]

I received the Plastruct “T” styrene strips that my LHS ordered for me but I’m still trying to figure out the best way to cut & install them to the top of my QCM PRR 50’ auto boxcar and keep them all aligned. Too many variables but I think I have a plan. We’ll see how it goes this coming week.

I also had my LHS order me the new C&O and Boston & Maine Accurail reefer kits and I picked them up yesterday when I picked up the Plastruct “T” styrene strips. And it wasn’t long after I got home before I had both kits assembled: (Click photo to enlarge)

I like the fact that they aren’t painted in the usual reefer yellow. Something different.

Midweek I assembled a couple of Proto 2000 CB&Q 50-ton war emergency hoppers that I had found at the same LHS the prior weekend:

Ugh. Apparently I didn’t do a very good job aligning the wheelsets on the left truck of the left hopper. [:S]

Tom

Rick, Thanks for starting-up the WPF with views of your busy bench and 1:87 plumbing.

And Tom’s bench is busy too. Really hate when it appears I’ve taken the perfect shot of a railcar, only to see a glaring spider web, ball of fuzz or a dropped wheel.

Thanks to all the contributors and viewers. Have a good weekend, Happy Halloween and Dia de los Muertos. Regards, Peter

Printed up so far. A WP&Y class 90 A and B unit. Dl535. GM6c. and a gneric boxcab shell.
