Weekend Photo Fun, the North American Labor/Labour Day 2016 Edition

Gidday All, still dragging my feet, however this week at the Club, Brett bought along some of his scratch built NZR Sn3.5 stuff for us to have a look at.
The Ngongotaha Station was built from measurements taken off photos…

Bear,

Thanks for bringing us Brett’s fine work. That’s some outstanding modeling! [bow] And thanks for the Labor Day greets!

A little of this and a little of that this week as I’m prepping for my fall operating sessions. But I did manage to squeeze in some operating, like this pic of switching in Animas Forks.

Yesterday, I snagged some pics of local 1:1 switching.

A better pic of #5315, an ex-Conrail GP38-2.

After the recent improvements, testing on the Cascade Extension showed that it can now handle 40’ cars, allowing more flexibility in shipping to customers there. Testing also confirmed that a longer consist for the local passenger is also feasible. Here it is at Black Cat Junction.

The test consist parked overnight at Crater Lake Junction for the return trip in the morning.

Finally, finished a water car for the section crews to use.

Here were are in September…my that was fast. Thanks for the start Bear. I just installed new LED lighting over the layout and took some test pics. Here are a couple of them.

Bear - Thanks for starting us off on another WPF. That is some great modeling by your friend Brett.

Mike - Good looking little water car. I liked the 1:1 photos too.

Tony73 - Nice photos. Good looking layout too.

Santa Fe day on the BRVRR. No grandsons around so grandpa got to run a few trains of his choice for a change.

Keep the photos and ideas coming guys. Thanks to you WPF is always the best thread of the week.

Tony,

The new lighting makes for a satisfying improvement in how your pics look.

Allan,

Glad you’re getting to run a train for a change[:)]

Good stuff from everyone. Just a random yard shot.

Bear, Nifty station scene and sme cool rolling stock.

Mike, I love your narrow gauge equipment and the night photo came out great.

Tony73, I think the LED lighting is working nicly and your layout looks great. I use GE Reveal bulbs for my layout.

Allan, Love your Santa Fe equipment.

Grampy, That is a great scene, I especially love your rock work.

C&O Fan, The automated water tank is a cool idea. It’s impressive to watch.

I’ve been working like crzy to get Gallitzin finished up. I’ve illuminated all the buildings:

I also finihsed building the terrain.

Those are great images. I wish they were bigger.

Tony:

Can you tell us what kind of LED lighting you used?

Dave

A pair of F&C milk cars I built up recently.

I did a bit of railfanning at Boothbay railway Village this week. The SRRL Railbus #7 and track inspection car were parked in front of the car barn. The railbus is on loan from Maine Narrow Gauge, and the inspection car from Owls head Transportation Museum.

The railbus was built from a REO truck, and seats about 14 people. The track inspction car was built from a Model T Ford.

Here is a pic of my RS1 I done painted a while back. The lokey came from Atlas’s first run of this puppy. The green surely did not come out well in the photo and looks much better in person. Lots of good looking stuff here gents!![C):-)]

cats think well of me:

I love the milk cars! What era are they from? (Asks he who might like to build some). Are they appropriate for the late 50s?

I love ‘oddball’ cars.

Thanks

Dave

I’m liking those dairy cars, too.

GP-9_Man, Lighting looks great!

A couple more pics of my water car and the rest of its train.

Hello Dave, to my knowledge, the butterdish car on the right should fit in to the late 50s. They would not have had the fins, especially the top fin. Some were being used in chemical service I understand. Also, by that time, the flat car would’ve been just used in freight service. They’re neat cars and definitely stand out on one’s layout.

Alvie

sure… it is ABI 1200 LED Strip Light, 10M Super Bright Double Density, Cool White 6000K… it is a 30 ft (10M) section …the strip and power supply together are under $35US… I am very happy with it. ( I put on drop cieling about 4 ft above layout) the links are below…

Terry,

Cool animated water tank. I did something similar a few years ago with a model airplane servo and a home-built water tank. No where nearly as detailed as yours. I removed the electronics from the servo and controlled the DC motor with a two-button panel like yours for awhile. Then switched to a DPDT switch.

If I get a chance I’ll see if I can find the thing.

Thanks Allan

I did this Because I had tbe 6 RPM motor Left over after i replaced it with A Faster 60 RPM motor on the overhead crane project I just completed

Both Projects are in Preperation For the up coming Home Layout Tour on November

Since every one loves the operating Coal Tipple on my layout

I thought they would like both these

It’s actually quite simple in design

Bear, Thanks for another WPF roll out and interesting glimpse into Sn3.5 modeling. Can commiserate with you as my shoes are getting worn from all the feet dragging I’ve been doing lately, so an oldie is my offering.

Venga, Venga! Viva de Vuelta a Espana!

Thanks to all and Happy Labor Day, Peter
