Yesterday, Big Girl and I went on a local layout tour. We visited four homes, two with HO layouts, one with N, and one with S. It was the S scale layout that had one of the more unusual features. I have heard of this before, but never seen it in practice, until now.
The track plan took the train twice around the perimeter of the foundation, in the form of a folded figure 8, yielding a very long mainline. In order to do this, sacrifices had to be made.[swg]
I just finished scratchbuilding an On30 push plow, using plans from the Narrow Gauge & Shortline Gazette. The prototype was a Sandy River & Rangely Lakes Railroad 2 foot plow in Maine. It was made from scribed and sheet styrene over a shortened frame from a Bachmann flat car:
Here’s the whole train with my hand in the shot to show the relative size:

The plow is about 5-1/4" long; it and the Bachmann Climax are posed on Peco On30 flextrack.

Steve, you are getting me all home sick!! and I only came back to the US earlier this month. Oh well… Actually, it is one of the best things about the UK, there are so many train activities in such a concentrated area. Thanks for posting the pics…

I wanted to try something different. Below are a couple of B&W (gray scale) photos from the BRVRR. The first one is of NYC GP20 #6111 slowing as it approaches Berea Station with a short passenger train while F7A #1855 and F7B #2524 overtake on track 1.
The second pic is of the same two trains at ground level as they cross the highway near the Black River Valley COOP.
Next time I’ll try this with steam engines for better effect.

Right now I’m working on scratchbuilding a BNSF super reefer. It’s still far from finished, but I finally got it to the level where I can start pasting pictures of it:

No photos yet. Still working on setting up accounts from Tom’s directions on posting pics. I did take a bunch of digital pics though. Only a few of the dozens I took actually turned out ok. I’ll post when I can.
Update:
-Built 2 of 3 new Canadian National Overland 50’ passenger cars (green and black livery). The cars are sweet: Mail Car, Baggage Car, and yet to build the Business Car.
-Carved pond base and waterfall base into mountain and applied base plaster.
-Completed scenery in South West corner of layout: Grass, shrubs, Golden Valley freight depot, and assorted exposed rock surfaces/cliffs.
-Painted profile boards scorched brown (deep dark brown)

I too am photo-less. I gotsome major progress on Tater Mountain and I spent 2 hours building a stack of ties out of flex track, but nothing to write home about…
Photo-less here, too. Am currently in the process of putting Tomar track-slider pickups on all of my older brass locomotives. So far, I’ve turned 7 Rough Riders into Swiss watches. Yummy!!

I created an account on photobucket.com and have successfully posted a picture test. The one glitch is that the picture is small and can’t be “zoomed” by clicking on it. How do I set this up? Do I have to use another picture posting service? Shutterfly? I created an account on Railimages.com, but God help me I can’t find how to post a pic there[:(!] That’s why I went to photobucket.com
To be able to enlarge photos, they must be a bigger size on Photobucket. I resize mine to 800 wide, and this seems to work OK.
Keep in mind if your images uploaded to Photobucket are larger than 250MB, they will be reduced in half automatically. So photos should be 800DPI wide and less than 250 MB.
