Weekend Photo Fun

Here’s somthing I got done this week. 6 Athearn Heavyweights painted with Scalecoat II GN Empire Green. I’m awaiting the aquesition of masking tape so I can paint the roof black. Later I shall decal the sides, detail underneath, and whatever.
Then I will have my 6 car Santa Fe passenger train to match my BLI 3751. [^]

BTW AGGRO are we going to have a memorial day PHOTO SHOOT ???

Okay, some photos of the new kid on the block (as of noon today). It’s a 1961 Akane AC-8 Cab-forward that came in its original box and had all of its original papers. Runs very nice, whoever put it on consignment actually USED the little puppy. BTW, the original hobby stamp is for a then-local dealer here in Sacto called PARAGON, inc. Anyone out in this area remember them? (oh yah, the 1961 purchase price was $79.50. Big bucks for back then!). Anyway, here she is, pulling a train of PFE’s over Yuba Summit.

Tom Thats Great Photo, boy your lucky !!! nice keep em posted

carl,

I’m trying to get some ideas for industrial scenes on my layout, and I know alot of people post loco or runby shots of their layouts… could somebody post some pics of their ‘big’ industries? Steel mills, concrete plants, plastic industries, lumber mills, mining operations, etc? I’d love to see how people incorporate these big industries into their layouts. I’ve got at least four ‘major’ industrial scenes planned for my layout, including concrete processing, railroad rebuilding and yard operations, coal mining, and a rock quarry operation and I’m trying to picture how each will fit into the different areas of my layout. Thanks!

Here’s one of my latest pics…

Tom, that’s a great shot!

One more of the Geep.

What ballast are you using? Woodland Scenics fine gray?

Nice cars, looking forward to see the finished result.

electro, that is WS fine gray. I also use fine cinder and, many times, mix them a little.

Great pictures every one. Mine is off topic but at least I am posting one of my hobbies…woodworking that is! (click for a clear image)

This is a clock (duh) that i built for my sister in law’s birthday

Wow[bow]
Gorgeous work everyone!

Yep, Its a picture of a door cut in half… Why you may ask? well, it signifies the beggining of benchwork construction on the last wall in the layout room. Thats right, my benchwork is 3/4 done[:D] I expect it to be done by wednesday, then the real fun begins. I had to run a beam all along the wall where the door is, it bridges the door and the closet. Consequently, the one door has become two and only the bottom opens. A little inconvenient to duck under, but not bad being that it is 5 feet high.

is it a fast clock ? [:D]
