Weekend Photo Fun!

One year ago, I dismantled my first “spectacular” layout, the un-named 4.5’ x 10’. The later part of June last year is when I decided to build my first around-the-wall layout. The only place I controlled was my bedroom. The new railroad would expand as large as physically possible within my room. This came with alot of sacrafices to everything else I did in my room, but at least I would have a larger layout. The scenery on the SP&E is about 90% complete at this time. I tried to get it “finished” before the 1 year mark passed, but no. I wish I took more “the begining” photos so I have somthing to compare “finished area” photos. Hmmmm.

WOW, Nice. Looking for the right words to describe this. I think you go man works here. Great weathering and detail of secenery there. [tup]

You did all that in ONE YEAR!!![:O][:O][:O] Its taken me half a year just to get my first track laid. I bow to you[bow]

its taken me 3 years to settle on a track plan. but then again i don’ have alot of money or much time. after track is laid. my layout usually goes very slow becuase i’m to busy playing trains[:P]

Aggro, I’ve got a similar story to yours. After our move last July we decided to rebuild our railroad. We kept the main 4x14 section but built the new edition (shelf type, free standing) in about 6 months! I was a man on a mission and enjoyed every second of it! Here’s some new pics of the Platte Canyon Sub…
Ya’ll have a great weekend!

F3 powered coal train.

F3’s battle gravity on the Split Rock By-Pass.

Busy day at the Mine.

with the excellnt weathering you do i can’t imagine also having time to make such great scenery . or is it the other way around ?
either way , it looks great ! thanks for sharing

Hello All,

No pictures, but this past week I got a second Athearn SP “Speed Lettering” SD45T-2 and some new Athearn freight cars.

Sean

Sean, congrats on the new editions.

Aggro,
You have done and excellent job in blending your foreground/background scenery and have detailed the landscape to a point of putting the breath of life into it. I have finally grabbed the badge of courage to continue on my scenery and your pictures certainly give me inspiration. I only hope that my results are close to matching yours.
You are indeed, a mentor to this forum. [bow]

Thanks![:)]

Here is some photos from my swedish narrow gauge railroad I started on four days ago. It is measuring 40’’ by 16’’ (100*40 cm) and its made up on a sheet of pink styrofoam. The track is Peco c.80 HOn30, the train is from Roco and the iron ore mine and goods shed is scratchbuilt.

More pics on my webpage(in swedish): http://www.laderblom.com/mj/ho9/

WOW!!!
100% Amazing!
Love every single photo!
Excellent!!!

Looks great, everyone!!![bow][bow][bow][bow][bow][bow][bow]

Aggro - your backdrop kicks bootay. This is where I feel your work is “no fair”. People who are obviously artists have such an advantage over us more “technical” types.

I’m going to have to use all enlarged photographs or commercial backdrops - no way I could paint one. Fuggedaboutit.

Aggro, Awesome job! I love that background, hope my scenery turns out like that! It wont be in one year though, I already have 3 into mine.[:D][tup][tup]

Excellent Job Aggrojones, I started my layout (15X7’) last october and had the benchwork and track in in two weeks, the rest has progressed slower than yours but at least I can run trains!
Just wondering, you’ve finished so fast, what will you do now?

Awesome stuff, from here and there, everyone. Real daylight beats heck out of indoors shots, most of the time.

I have a good camera, but it is film, and I have no good lenses for depth of field. Also, the lighting lacks something in my basement. Anyway, here is a pic I took of my trestle a while back.

Well i think i can say WOW to the pictures posted so far, fantastic stuff. I have done a bit of weathering this week, i used woodland scenics earth color pigments cut with lots of water, it took nerve to do the BLI switcher but i like the outcome

[(-D] Thanks all.

Progress went so fast cause I had many of the components already made. Most of the trees and plant material was saved from the last layout.
After I fini***he last 10% of the scenery, I still have plenty to do. I’ve got new sky backdrops put in that need scenery painted on them.

selector–what kind of lighting is in your layout room?

steve–love that Tunnel motor!

CARRfan-- who says I am not also a “technical” type? [;)]

Aggro, the tunnel motor and the C44-9 are both Athearn BB models, the dash 9 fell to the floor last year and is used to practice things on, it runs ok but the chassis is twisted
