Very nice work, Steve. Weathering really adds to the realism doesn’t it?

Great work out there as usual. I haven’t been able to spend as much time in the last few weeks on the pike as I would have liked. Some heavy family stuff going on here. My 88 year old (as of last tuesday) mother fell three weeks ago and broke her hip. If she can bounce back from this, she will be cofined to a Nursing Home. So I have been putting a lot of miles on the truck and filling out form after form after form. Not to mention my sister and I had to clean out her room at the Assisted Living center she was at. How can someone collect that much stuff in 3 years…? Oh well, such is life and I have gotten some stuff done on the layout (good therapy!) even so.
The mountain Ice House is progressing and is now in place with the docks installed (you can see the office building in the left of the picture):
I am not happy with the way the driveway came out, so that will be upgraded (suggestions are welcome):
An out of focus close up (the camera focused on the rock face instead of where I wanted it. Too lazy to get another pic.):
Nice work everyone!
I have been working on an old discontinued water tower kit by JL Innovative. It is by far the hardest kit I have made so far. The legs are made from 2 flat strips of wood with a diagonal series of fine wood strips to create the metal girders. In all I had to cut about 80 little segments of 1/32’ x 1/32’ stripwood to create each leg. The tank is a cardboard tube covered in paper in which I embossed rivet marks for the metal plates.
This will eventually find its place in my coal mine area as it is a perfect replica of the actual water tower that stood by the power house at the White City mine that I am modelling.
Finally found time to snap some shots of the layout and have chosen a couple for your enjoyment.
Canadian National 4497, a GP9M, rumbles past the lighthouse on Rocky Point.
This is the center of my 4x8 layout. It’s a busy place!
Great work all. I look forward to seeing more next week.

Steve the weathering looks great! I’m just starting mine as well. I hope they turn out as good as yours.

Nice pics everyone!
Simon1966, that’s an awesome looking water tower, a very realistic structure.
[:)][:D][:)][:D]OK I was told to post photos I needed a website. I now have one. It only took 2 weeks to get it working. Now to try to post a photo See if it works now I guess.
This site doesn’t do well with spaces in the file name. Take them out and try again.
It should look something like this (don’t use the dash in the img tag):

Hi guys,
I updated my website a few minutes ago. Take a look at the “Southern Pacific Pictures” page for photos of my new SD45T-2’s!

Hope you like them,

I learned how to drive with a VW beatle way back awhile ago. This is my last pic of the night, I feel so smart, thanks to CARRfan! Thank you.
OK I give up for now. Maybe I will try again later. If you want to see photos check out my website. It is new and I am still learning how to do it so forgive the lack of whatever.
Nice Pics everyone! I would show you the picture i am going to send in for the track side photos section but it is a seceret and no one can see it unless it gets in.I will let you all know if it does but you will probobly recognize it.[;)]
Aggro, I have one of those three-pots-that-swivel type fixtures that sits about five feet above one side of the layout, and a double white flourescent at another corner. In that photo, one of the pots shines directly down over that area. Believe me, many other photos are quite horrible and grainy, and even worse on the CD that comes with the processed roll.
I have She Who Must Be Obeyed beginning to agree that we need to invest in a decent digital SLR (Canon or Nikon) with at least one decent lense. Then again, maybe lighting should come first?
