still working on the refinery…will have to build a superheated steam boiler …the refinery is divided into a refraction unit and will branch off into a ucex unit, a alkylation unit, and a catalyst unit…here comes the hard part…all the piping to model not to mention lighting the columns

all these tanks will recieve petrolium gas, kerosene, heating oil, gasoline, and lubricating oil, asphalt residue will be sent by rail to another refining process via tank car…chuck

Good stuff.

Chuck,That refinery is coming along swimmingly.

O.K. I’m getting jelous. There not great, but here I go…

This is the mountain I’ve bee building with scratch built portals. The layout was temp, but the tunnel now lives on the new 8’x 15’ layout I’m working on.

This shows some Aggro trees I made, my own custom ore car loads, and an F unit that I custom painted and decaled.
I know it’s not a lot, but wait till I get a real camera!!!

Looking good so far guys! Chuck, that refinery is looking VERY nice! If I get a chance this weekend, I’ll post some more pics of the track weathering I’ve been working on. Keep those pics coming guys.

Just took this photo about 15 minutes ago, a shot of my custom Athearn GP-35 in the colors of a local area shortline, NB Southern. I shortened the fuel tank to make it like the prototype, made the decals myself. Added a bunch of details here and there.

I finished my first diorama called “The Last Kiss” for the division contest, Won best of show. Category was stations. Here is the prototype story of ”The Last Kiss” and some pictures.

The Story of the Last Kiss

In April of 1943, as the logging season in Northern Minnesota drew to a close, the call went out from Uncle Sam saying more troops were needed to take back the Pacific. Most of the loggers from The Sublime Mountain Logging Company volunteered, her boy friend included. After basic training the loggers, now soldiers, returned on a three day pass before shipping out to the Pacific theater. In early August they all met at the old Sublime Junction station to say good bye, wish each other luck and promising to return soon and safe. He gave her one last kiss.

During the next weeks and months the memory of that kiss kept her going as the war dragged on. Then in late 1944 the news arrived that his fighter plane had been shot down and he was listed as missing-in-action . She never heard from him again, but each year, in early August, she returns to the, now long abandoned, station to remember that last kiss. She is now old, as is everything from that moment - except the memory. It seems like the only thing still real in her lonely life.

There is rumor that the only reason the old, rundown station is not torn down is in her honor and in the memory of her logger.

I also same into possession of a Spectrum Northern and a consist of coal cars. Not prototype for my layout with its grades, but I did hook it up with my Sierra and pulled a

Excellent job on the station Art!!!

Very nice work Bob. What’s the brand of your turntable? How did you make your decals?

The turntable is by Heljan. It looks a lot better after I removed the heavy clunky railing.

I used the Testors decal kit to make the decals. Making them in black was fairly easy, used several programs in my computer to get the correct text and logos. Although I did spray the finished decals with the clear protectant in the kit, they did start to bleed a little with repeated applications of Solvaset. Once I learned that, I went easier on its use.

The turntable is on an HO scale pair of modules that I made about 20 years ago. I made the diesel last year. I just happened to have the modules set up to take some photos.
