my guess is that those are all custom painted. they look very cool, especially the Southern units. the NYC units just look a little…grey.
i just wish i could have an AC4400CW in the Maroon and grey scheme…
The trackwork looks great! Is it hand laid?
Tom
Oh, their custom painted alright. Since the New York Central merged with the Pennsy in '68, you won’t find an SD70 on any NYC roster. The light gray/dark gray was the paint scheme used on some of their F-units in the 50s.
The locomotives do seem nicely painted and detailed. However, the anacronym alarm keeps going off in my head…

Ballasting my new yard ladder. I laid it all out on a sheet of foam without roadbed because of the transition from existing layout to new addition. Plywood+Roadbed=Foam in terms of thickness. The surfaces were flush with each other and I think It looks pretty good so far.

This week I completed 3 MEC passenger cars for our Boothbay club layout; shown on my layout with my F3 on the head:
For my home layout, I just completed assembly of a Bowser covered hopper, MEC2432 the dark gray one. I still need to do some weathering and concrete spillage. It is shown at the Dragon Cement bulk and batch plant on the storage track awaiting unloading.
Out of pictures already…[V]
I’ll post a few of my new DCC Atlas IC GP40 I purchased at a train show on Father’s Day for $85.00. I’ve been looking for one of these for a long time. They were produced in 2004 with a MSRP of $129.00, so $85.00 is a steal if you ask me! Only detail I will have to add is the side-mounted bell.
I spent two solid evenings figuring out how, drilling and wiring my Alexander Scale Model NYC Freight station with interior and exterior lighting:
Click picture(s) to enlarge
The first two pictures were taken in the early morning hours. The third picture sorta shows how I wired the 2 exterior trackside lights and the interior ceiling lights.
The wires are tunneled through painted brass tubing (You can see one just left of and at the rear of the divided wall of picture 3, in the corner) to look like interior venting stacks. This will give the interior of the depot a more finished look through the sliding doors and make replacing the light bulbs easier.
For both the interior and exterior lighting, I decided to use 1.7mm 12V incandescent bulbs because they lasted longer (5,000 hrs.) and fit the painted lamp covers better. (No glue needed! [:)]) I have them hooked up to a spare MRC Rail Command power pack set at ~9V. That should make them last even longer.
Tom

I’ll admit the Tuxedo on really modern equipment looks way cool, but those lightning stripes look just plain strange on modern units.
Then again, maybe it’s just me.
I’d love to see something ultra modern in the Southern Green Scheme (no, not 4610, either! Already seen it).

Looks Great Tom !!!

Since it’s late June has the grass started growing on the layout yet ?
[swg]
Yes,
The track is handlaid.
Yep all the units are custom painted.
[%-)] Not sure what your mean there.

I finished up this little project, a train order stand so crews could get their flimsies on the fly.
(Edit)
