I changed the location of the Silver Creek meat plant. Well it’s still in the same area I just slid it over and turned it a bit. It gave me room for 2 more cars and I can now store an engine there too.

Here it is getting service:

Everyone, nice work.

Tom, that station keeps getting better and better.

been mia for a while… made the big move back into philadelphia proper. as a result a new layout has been built and many projects are underway… take a look at what has gone on in the last month or so with my 18" x 120" urban layout…

P&LE switcher #1539 pushes a Railbox, P&LE (custom painted/decaled), what will be a KCS (to be decaled), and CSX boxcars into place

Length wise view… several buildings need to be built and put along the backdrop and many scenery fine details will be added!

Doesn’t every Railbox boxcar have at least one piece of graffitti on it?

A modern P&LE boxcar… somebody needs to make these so I don;t have to custom make like 10 more of these!

Really nice work guys. It makes me ashamed to show my stuff here. All really good work shows up here.

Well I’ll show my work even thousgh I’m ashamed. I’ve been working on Super detailing my WC SW1500. I’ve placed an order for some MU cables, a bell, a plow, and an Fire cracker atenna. I’ve also cut off the molded in Foot boards and put a piece of stryene in the whole there the couple would be. I’ve also mounted the sun shades. I also found a set of Hand rails for it.

WC, there is no reason to be ashamed of your work, even if it wasn’t as good as you just posted. We all do what we can and learn as we go. There’s room for all of us.

On another forum, we did a thread designed to help new guys feel less intimidated… We put up photos of our earlier efforts, and man, did it work! Here’s the one I put up…

Chunky track, cardboard buildings, rapido couplers, bad photography… Believe me, no matter how good we may think we are now, we all had to start somewhere.

I’ve been working on the Pit-Bash, converting an Atlas deck turntable to True Pit. This weekend, I put down some Gypsolite over the pink foam. It’s still in its “raw” state with only a little color from the cheap acrylic paint I squirted into the wet plaster, but it was good enough for a couple of photos. This is a shot of Number 56 pulling out of the roundhouse:

I also (accidentally) took a flash picture. Normally, I don’t care for the results when I use a flash, but this one came out pretty well. For one thing, it lit up the interior of the roundhouse. I do have lights in there, but right now I’m still doing scenery so I didn’t have the wiring connected for either the stall tracks or the inside lights.

The rock pit wall is a hydrocal casting. I used Dave Frary’s “Weathered Wall” mold from www.mrscenery.com. After the hydrocal set for about 10 minutes, I bent it around a curved form so it took on the radius of the pit wall. This conversion uses a false floor to the pit, which is attached to the outer rim of the Atlas turntable. That way, the floor doesn’t turn with the bridge, and I’ve got something else to attach the pit wall too.

OK, who let this thread slip to page 2? It’s still the weekend ya know!

Nice work everyone, as usual! (Mr. Beasley, that is one fine lookin’ turntable you got there.)

All I have to show this week is a page of decals I put together for my businesses on the SLOW. Took all of today to find and create the images and scale the text so that it will all fit on the signs, in windows, and on buildings in the business district. Hopefully my decal paper from MicroMark is still good.

This is a low res web version of it. The original is 3 Mb.

I’m still building my “earlier effort”! [:D]

Great work, folks.

Chris

Nice work everyone!!! I am jealous… I have been busy tweaking track in the litttle time I have had this week… been fun, actually running trains a bit. A nice break! Well, back to work!

Keep on trainin’ !!

Brian

Those castings really came out great. Did you have any trouble with fitting/ interlocking the sections? Looks like you hid the seams quite well.

Nice work as always guys!

Finished working on the crane/boom car from Tichy that I got a while ago. still needs paint, decals, couplers, and maybe a touch of weathering to finish it off though.

the pics are a bit underexposed and maybe a touch on the blurry side, but I think that they came out fairly well for a quick shot.

Got a new digital camera & did some railfanning at Steamtown, Scranton, PA

Chip,

You are partially to blame, you know…[:)]

Tom

Alright well earlier I took a few pics of my module and was only recently granted permission to upload pictures…

enjoy

You guys do good work!

You got me on that one. The camera position and the turntable bridge were carefully placed to hide the seams. At this point, I’ve got a couple of gaps that need to be patched up a bit and hidden with some greenery. I actually had the wall pretty much gap-free, but when I ran the bridge around I had some “clearance issues” and when I pushed the walls back a bit the gaps appeared.

The casting segments are about 6 inches long. Since the casting is more than twice the height of the pit wall, each casting made two segments. I tried to place the gaps beneath the stall rails so they wouldn’t be as obvious.

i love what you did with the atlas turntable, is there any where i can go to get the plans for kitbashing the atlas turntable? thanks

I’ve been thinking of doing that. I took photos all through the project, so it shouldn’t be too hard to put something together.
