The prices are great for the amount of lights you receive. However I’m wondering how well made the lights are. They are from China, but then again so are most of the higher priced street lights from the major HO scale manufacturers.
I’m not expecting anything with great detail or great assembly for the price. But I’m also not really looking for ultra detailed and expensive per item street lights. Basically just something that lights up and looks like a street light. And if the colors are a little strange, I can always paint them.
Has anyone purchased any of these lights for use on your layout? If so, what do you think?
I have purchased a number of items, trees, lights and fencing from this vendor. Quick delivery.
The lamps I bought were the old time ornamental street lights. The detail on the lights is good, the finish is good. The lights are as good if not better than what I have seen in hobby shops.
I wired a number of these onto my layout and they have lasted for over a year to date.
I would have spent a lot more had I purchased these items elsewhere.
12 V normally, although many people run their lamps at a bit lower voltage to lengthen the life of the bulb (I’m assuming these are incadenscent bulbs and not LEDs or anything).
Wow, it just hit me that they are selling lamps 20 for US$16.00, about the same price Walthers would charge you for (1) one MSRP. They are not that detailed, but would be good for background EXCEPT the vendors claim OO/HO scale - since OO is 1:76 vs 1:87, would these lamps scale out too big for the mid-ground./background?
I have bought only Palm trees from these guyson their eBay store. I needed quantities and the plastic trees the sellers in China have suit my layout fine. They ship fast and cheaply and the trees look good after some detail painting and shading. Although I don’t need any of their lights right now if I did I need lights I would buy from them without a second thought.
I’ve installed 20 of the dual LED streetlights from wehonest, and a friend asked me to order 20 more for him. Shipment in both cases was very promt via U.S. Postal Service and there were no customs duties to pay.
The lights and benches are pretty nice for the price. I’m in the process of painting the lights.
Here’s a picture of some lights getting painted and a few of the benches with a Preiser figure to compare scale:
Oh and they come with resistors depending on what voltage you plan to run them on. Just let them know what voltage (12 volts in my case) and they’ll add the proper resistors free.
I have a few Chinese e-bay vendors saved as favorite vendors. 100 trees, or 100 figures, or 10 light poles for $10. May not be detailed enough for closeup shots at the front of the layout, but my layout (N-scale) follows the 3-foot rule. It’s better than paying 10 times as much for a vendor that gets them from China anyway. Fast shipping, no tax or customs charges.
