Weight

How much weight do you add to a husky stack car? Also, how much weight do you

add to a gunderson maxi 3 car? I thought I would put the weight in the containers.

Sincerely,

Chris

How much weight to add is dependant on the base weight of the car.

In HO, the target weight is one ounce plus 1/2 ounce per inch of length.

For a car with 2 trucks, measure between the end sills.

For a car with 4 trucks, I would take the overall measurement, reduce that by the length of the center carbody, then add back twice the overhang from an end truck to the end sill. The odd inch or two would allow lighter weight and keep the weight on each truck approximately equal.

Putting the weight in the (bottom of the bottom) container(s) will work, as long as the containers are never unloaded. If the cars are ever run empty they will have to be handled at the marker end of the train, so being underweight shouldn’t generate problems unless your double stacks are prototype length.
