Today I recived my new BLI F7A. It runs great and is beautifull. But there is a problem. When backing the A unit makes a slight noise from inside as far as I can tell. Do anyone know what this can be? Does it need lubricating or something?

Every BLI I own is much…no MUCH…noisier in reverse than it is in forward.
Have fun, Lillen.

Puuh. So that means that it’s okay then? It’s only the A unit though. The B-unit seems quiet. But there is such a huge difrence is taht normal. I mean when going forward it doesn’ make a sound(except fromt eh speaker that is) [:)]
But when backing it’s a notable sound, almost like a bachmann! [:D]
Thanks now I can go to sleep. I was afraid that I was going to have to return it to Colorado from Sweden.

Read all of the documentation that came with the locomotive and see if it requires lubrication before operation. Many BLI steam engines warn buyers to lubricate them before operation because they are apparently not oiled at the factory in China.
I hope so, Lillen. All I can say is I sent an email to BLI shortly after I brought my first loco, a J1 Hudson, because I was concerned about how much noise it made in reverse. The tech who responded said, “That’s how the Korean drives are…noisy in reverse…is there anything else I can do for you?”, or words to that effect.
I suppose if worse comes to the worst, you’ll have to do without it for a couple of months if you are not prepared to live with it.
One of the bonuses of several nearby locomotives, particularly a couple of steamers, is that they tend to mask the gear noise of the reversing locomotive. You do have a couple of steamers, don’t you…[:-,]
Well as long as it does not start telling you to worship Satan or something else demonic… [}:)]
Probably a Federally-required backup warning signal.
Just tell every body that.
“Hey, wanna hear something neat? I just got this new backup waring system installed on my loco!”
That would explain the dead rooster hanging upside down above my trains this morning. That and the black cat! [:D]
