Student,
Thanks for the info . . . bummer about the availability. Hopefully someone will get the license and redo an early McDonalds. That would really set the era for a layout.

Nice work, PARKER. Though I prefer Jack in the Box. [dinner]
Biggie,
Here’s a thought. Get one of those picture frames with the digital sound recorder in it (sometimes they can be found for less than $5.00 at those Dollar type stores). Install a push button. When ever visitors walk buy you can pu***he button and they’ll hear “You want fries with that?” LOL
Biggie:
With a handle like that, you should be building a Wendy’s (as in Biggie Fries, Biggie Drinks, etc), not a BK LOL
FYI, according to Spikre over on the Atlas forums (HO), Lifelike didn’t have a licensing issue with McDonalds, like we’ve all commonly believed (me included). Rather, they had a limited time frame that they were allowed to produce the kit because McD’s was just starting a pu***o change the styles of their restaurant. To quote Spikre, here’s what he said in a response to a post by me (Greg), though I don’t lnow what he meant by “ALSO”:
"Greg,
get the facts on the McDonalds kit
CORRECT ALSO!!!
Life like had X amount of time to run
with the kit.they were slow getting it out
and McRonald would NOT EXTEND thier time!!!
that is from Mr Sol Kramer of Kramer
vs Kramer-NOT,of LIFE LIKE!!!
have also talked to Col Carstens about
this and got about the SAME INFO!!!
McDonalds was into thier big pu***o
convert to sit in resturants,which
explains the TIME LIMIT!!!
the kit was always DESIGNED to be
converted to other configerations!!!
give Col Hal a call,or E mail!!! "
As you can see, Spikre has a different style of writing than most anyone else. Some love it, some hate it. I get a real laugh out of how he says what he says, but it did take some getting used too. He’s also known to be really reliable with his info.
Enjoy the Hobby!
Greg
Biggie- Big time modeling. Delightful .

Whoppers are good, mmmmmmm… Anyway, great job, I better start scratchbuilding to make the golden arch enemy- I mean McDonalds[:p]
Very nice…
…and can I order a large fry and hambuger.
Need some balloons, searchlights, and a guy in a king costume. Not bad.
I might go for a 65 style Taco Bell before the drive up, or a In-N-Out next to the tracks.
Right at the corner of Imperial Blvd. next to the UP tracks in South Gate lays a burger stand with Pastrami Hamburgers Fries Chiliburgers. A bit further down in a take out Pizza Hut in a strip mall shop like a domionos
Cool! well, right now here in Oklahoma, I should be saying: Cold!
Check out March MRR. That guy Pelle Soeborg did an excellent job with a Denny’s, KFC and Best Western (no pic of his McDonalds). Perhaps Pelle and Biggie should get together and do an article(s) on scratchbuilding some of these models. I’m sure it would be popular. It never ceases to amaze me the talent that many in this hobby have!
Thanks. I did see the work in this March MR. I was liking the UP trains also since I have those. His street was truly cool looking. I knew that his layout looked familiar because it was in on of the other MR magazines this past year. Thats where I first saw it and now they did a future on the front page of his. I hope one day my layout makes it that far but if not aww well. I really like the KFC but I could not find any kits similar to that to do.
If I had one on my layout I’d call it Burglar Kink.
