Welcoming celebration set for new Oregon Talgo trains
Small country across Atlantic orders 30 additional 140 mph trainsets. Larger European operator orders hundreds of double deck regional passenger cars and on this side of the pond 2 train sets are delivered. Something is not right with this picture!
A tiny country across the Atlantic places an order for 30 additional 140 mph train sets. A large country (USA) puts 2 (two) new train sets into service. Something is terribly wrong with this picture!
Your country like ours is run by bean counters who know the cost of every thing and the vlaue of nothing.
I agree with you, JOSEPH M TRUDO and MEL & MO MILLER. It’s ironic, that Guse was born and raised on a farm in Wisconsin. Instead of consistently babbing nonsense, Guse should run for the next Wisconsin Governor and kill all the Amtrak routes in Wisconsin.
There would be more Talgo train sets built and delivered, but thanks to the arrogance and short sightedness of Wisc. governor Scott Walker, that didn’t happen. I hope Talgo would be successful in suing the State of Wisconsin for breach of contract, but I’ll bet Gov. Walker will have one of his crony judges rule in his favor.
According to the event information, the train was scheduled to be in Eugene from 2:30-4:00pm. I showed up at 2:45, just in time to see tail lights of the train as it departed. A lousy piece of PR on the part of Amtrak/ODOT when they need all the public support they can get to achieve their stated goals of higher frequencies and ridership.
Gosh it just won’t do to have our President take credit for doing anything to improve our transportation system. Thus the austerity hawks do everything in their power to stymie and resist even future planning, let alone construction and maintenance.
