Well this turned out to be a pretty cool day...

Well first of all I passed my book of rules test on the first shot, and I only found out I was taking it yesterday afternoon; I was really nervous about it. I’ve never taken it before and had NO clue what to expect.

Then I get home and hear a train coming…look out the window and see it’s light colored, but it’s not time for Amtrak. Here comes NS 4270, 4275, 4276, a black engine, 15 passenger cars and two boxcars RIGHT by my house!

This is after M&W spent the WHOLE working day yesterday along the entirety of the 600 feet or so where my lawn abuts the ROW…cleaning it up and plowing a bunch of sticks and debris under and just generally making it look a lot better than it did before. Wish I’d known that train was coming, it would have made a nice pic!

I do my rules (NORAC and Brake) first weekend in May. Hopefully I’ll get through it all and start doing more than look nice for the passengers…

Not that I’m not going to continue looking good for the passengers… [:D]

Nice spot, Nora! Somedays you’re just in the right place at the right time.

Good to see you back on the Forum, too!

Congratulations on the test results, Nora!

I have to take one later this year–for us operating types, it’s going to require two days of classes and testing. And I have this tendency to become drowsy if I’m sitting still too long…

Oh, well–this should be the penultimate test for me.

And as for your location, location, location, I’m still jealous!

matts been wanting to come back for a visit.

stay safe

Nora RULES! You go gal. Couldn’t you get the MOW crew to weed the garden too? Thought you would have some insider pull now. [;)]

Hi Nora! Glad to see you back! Rick, too!

Like Carl, I am jealous of your location. Guess that is easier than moving!

Keep us informed. Sounds like you are going places!

…Morning all…and hello to another Pennsylvanian, Nora. Nice to hear all kinds of traffic on the “Broadway Route” still…

Some nasty tornado action out here last evening…Not in our immediate area…Note, Willy: Blew a police car over a 3’ fence and into a field upside down…Officer just bumps and bruises…A female Sherff’s officer.

Its nice to get lucky like that sometimes. I had to drive 10 hours to catch that train while it was at the masters. I only got lucky like that a couple of times. I was on the way to a friends house and I passed the BNSF yard in Saginaw, TX and there was one of BNSF’s x-GN SDP40s in the consist of NB manifest preparing to leave the yard. I had read that they had been retired a few years earlier. Also caught two of three existing ATSF articulated grain hoppers while out in CA.
