Well.........

I guess it’s time to say goodby.

By next week, I will be blocked from forum due to the FORUMS catagory listed in the polocy in the school district.

It just makes me [:(].

The reason why is because there is absolutely no one else in this high school likes model railroading. In other words, I am the only one in this school that’s interested in model railroading.[sigh]

If anybody can keep up-to-date on this forum, please contact me at djmwushere@yahoo.com .

I’d appreciate it.

No computer at home? How about the public library? Most libraries have public-access machines with high-speed connections. They have some “appropriate use” restrictions, but I’m sure this forum would not be blocked. My public library even has a subscription to MR!

The schools don’t have the resources to support non-academic activities on their computers. The machines there are supposed to be for educational purposes, so that really needs to get the first priority. I doubt that they’ve got anything against model railroading. In an ideal world, there would be plenty of free computers for everyone, but that’s not where we are right now.

So, use the school equipment for its intended purpose, the greatest gift this country gives to its kids, a high-quality free education. Take advantage of it, and when you’re out you can buy your own computer and your own trains. And for those who don’t think much of the educational opportunity they’ve been given, well, you might be reading MR in the library for the rest of your life.

Does the school have a list of “approved” websites and/or forums that students are allowed to go to and all others are blocked? It would be interesting to see what websites and forums are on the approved list. I’ll bet dollars to dougnuts that many of them are far less “educational” than our little corner of cyberspace - but they promote the proper political “agenda”.

Yes, by all means, go to your nearest public library and use their computers… if you can get the old-men-in-rain-coats off of them. [:-^]

Derrick,
You can always try out the newsgroup rec.models.railroad on Google as I doubt they’ll be shutting off access to Google.

r.m.r is the granddaddy of online model railroad discussion groups. However, just to warn you, it is totally unmoderated and slower then here. There’s still some good talk over there, but it’s not like it used to be.

What a shame…When I was in Jr High I was a member of our schools Model Railroad club.

Home computer? Library Computer? Friends computer?

maybe once you learn how to properly spell “policy”, the school administrators will allow you to use the forum from school again!
