Were Tyco power supplies made by MRC? (HO)

I have an old Tyco-Pak HO Power Supply #897 from 1981. It has more features than the basic “toy” that came with the Tyco sets (i.e. circuit breaker light, A.C. and D.C. terminals). I hadn’t really looked at it for years, but I just noticed that the control knob has the MRC symbol on it. I assume that means MRC made the power-paks for Tyco?

Since the basic Tyco train set power was questionable, I am wondering if this particular unit was considered good quality in it’s day or is it to be avoided? Any insight would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Toby

dunno

Toby;

MRC yes.

Good for its day.

But; not good for today. It is not a transistorized pack, so today’s low current draw locomotives will take off like a scalded dawg, with no low speed.
