West Side Lumber Co. Supprt Letter

I’ve been working for the past few years to
save the remaining structures of the West Side Lumber Company located in Tuolumne, CA. I’ve met with the tribe twice, the most recent meeting was with the Tuolumne Economic Development Authority(run by the tribe) last September. We discussed the
possibility of rebuilding the structures and turning them into a
Museum. They were open to the idea of a Museum and agreed that the
current buildings would have to be completely rebuilt. The other
problem was that they had a golf course going through those buildings.
They were already planning on taking them down, and replacing them
with some false fronts for display on the golf course. To make a long
story short, they expressed their interest in preserving the WS, they
know how it played an important role in the history of the town.
However, the current proposal was not going to work. They asked me to
come back with another proposal, which does not interfere with the
golf course plans and an organized group. So I came up with a new
proposal and a group consisting of Ed Sieckert, Art Kauppi, Glen Tyra
and myself to help move this forward. This new proposal calls for a
structure to be built at a different location, one which does not
interfere with the current plans of the Tribe. It would also use some
