Just looking for thoughts from anyone who went to the Amherst Railway Society show this past weekend.
I have mostly good impressions. I’m just getting started,(after a 20 year break) and I found some really good deals. Esp from Valley Hobbies of CT. I’ve seen him at other shows and he always has really good prices. Also, it’s always fun just to stroll around and check things out, get ideas, find things to add to the wish list, etc
On the other hand, the price was up 1 dollar from last year, and you have to pay to park (which I know isn’t ARS fault). So it’s $11.00 just to get in the door. And some of the vendors in there, I swear they inflate their price for the show. And the folks selling beat up crap rolling stock for 5-10 dollars. Cmon people!
I had a blast it was my first show i got to see how people did different things it was packed. the vendors were really nice and explained everything the were selling. the best i thought was the lady from wooland scenics with her realistic water. she showed how to make waterfalls that was cool. most of the layouts were good what else can i say but it was great.[8D][8D][8D][8D][8D][8D]
Atlas was there, also Bachmann, Intermountain and Overland. Best thing to do next year is pick up a vendor list when you come in. It lists everybody there and their table locations.
