I have found some cool info on some WV railroads that I didn’t even know about! A newer branch called the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley, and is also known as the WV central. I knew that CSX and Chessie ran through WV, but this line operates with Western Maryland locos and such. Pretty interesting stuff. If you want more info http://www.wvrail.railfan.net/wvcrr.html is the way to go! Leave posts if you live in WV or know of WV rail lines. Thanks alot! [8)]
Back when steam was King, C&O, N&W, VGN, and WM all ran heavily in and through WVa. The VGN was built under the noses of the N&W and C&O as two intrastate railroads, one in Va and one in WVa. Then they “merged”, and voila - The Virginian; all the way from Deepwater to Tidewater. There were some men with some Bill Gates sized deep pockets back then, too.
