Very nice! [^]
How long did the ride last? Their operation looks sort of similar to the Great Smoky Mountains RR. Depending on which excursion you take it last anywhere from 2 to 5 hours.
the total trip was 3 and a half hours, but that includes the 1 and a half hour layover in frostburg…so total ride time was 2 hours
…Very nice pictures. Enjoyed seeing them. Have not ridden the train but have been to the Cumberland depot. Was scheduled to ride the route several years ago but had to cancel due to a conflct. Don’t know where the rail / trail problem stands now but I would like to see both of them survive. Surely a fail safe signal system can be devised so both can use the tunnel but of course just one at a time. It’s not that long that would take very long for hikers to pass through it…
Item: Some years ago we were at the Cumberland depot and I asked information there if they could direct me to the CSX Amtrak depot…and would you believe they really didn’t know just what I was talking about…and I never did find it…! This was at an office downstairs in the depot as I remember a service desk of sort…It was over 10 years ago when we were there. Have a beautiful pic I took of a red caboose and black diesel engine standing out front near the depot. Did not see the Frostburg train the day we were there…Have seen many photos of the steamer used on the route though…What is the number of it…Maybe 734…Just trying to remember now and don’t have a pic in front of me…I have followed the route from Frostburg down to Cumberland via TerraServer…Very interesting.

OK, you convinced me. [;)]
I want to ride. [:D]
Might be a few years before I get there tho, so keep it going. [;)]
I rode this line in 1992.My train was pulled by an FPA4 and an RS3. it consisted of 6 heavyweight coaches.it is a very beautiful trip.
Thanks alot for the update, sounds like you had a ball. Too bad I’m down here in Miami or I might be tempted to try their steam ride.
