I have a WP 2-8-0 and a WP 2-8-2 to letter. For the numbers, what decal sheet
should I use?
Chris
Chris–
I don’t know whether or not Microscale puts out WP steam loco decals, but I know that Champ has–I’ve used their decals to letter several WP steamers on my roster. Depending on your 2-8-0, the numbering would be between #1 to 65, and for the 2-8-2’s, the numbering would be between 301-336. However, remember that Nos 327-336 were known as the “Big Mikes” and had a Delta trailing truck and a 12-wheel rectangular oil tender. The only model representations of those particular locos I’ve seen at least in HO are older PFM brass imports.
For the most part, the WP loco numbers were not painted on the cab sides, but rather mounted on enameled number boards screwed to the cab sides.
I believe the Champ decals are available through Walthers.

Hello Tom,
I have the WP logos for the tenders, what I need is numbers for the cabs. My consolidation is a sound equipped Spectrum. I will number it as # 26, wich is preserved somewhere in California. The Mikado is a sound equipped Athearn Genesis that I intend to number # 306. I think the Genesis is close to the WP 306, the domes, bell and general look are essentially the same.
I have another sound equipped Broadway Limited BLI WP 2-8-2 numbered #310 that is OK but for the lack of an Elesco feedwater heater. After I have numbers on the other two I will have a small fleet of 3 WP steam locos.
The local hobby shops do not carry the Champ decal line. Maybe some dry transfer numbers by Woodland scenics would do the job?
Chris
I ordered some Champ decals-they took a week to arrive here in the UK-excellant service
