So you have BNSF power on the first photo, but UP’s EMP containers on the 2nd photo. I’d agree that its more likely between Salt Lake and Reno.

Just kidding. Actually it’s an honer that you participate in my little game [:I]. I caught this first train at Halleck and raced ahead to catch it at the tunnel at Osino haveing no Idea if I could catch the shot I envisioned, but bounceing around on wet and slipery roads while talking to my boss on the phone (while trying not to put myself on front street). I managed to get just the shot I was after. Then managed to extract my vehicle from the mud and make it back to pavement as the eastbound (second shot) made an appearance.
Anyway, yes, this is about 4 miles east of Elko, Between Osino and Ryndon. The first shot is of a BNSF westbound on the exSP at the tunnel and the second is a eastbound UP on the exWP (eastbound) main that follows the Humboldt river through the canyon.
