Nevada east of Donner Pass?
So far so good
Hint: This is Humboldt’s golden road.
Hmmm… (studies Atlas)
Winnemucca?
Not Winnemucca but that’s a good guess.
Near Battle Mountain, NV?
Another good guess but no it’s not Battle Mountain
Carlin, NV?
You’re getting closer Jim.
Wells, NV?
JIm
Not Wells but you’re getting closer
Deeth.
Not Deeth
This is East of Elko NV but closer to Elko than Wells.
You’re getting so hot you might melt [;)] but can you name the town?
No, I can’t name the town, but that is an SP train on the WP main - the bridge is painted!
OK, I will throw a rock at it — between Elburz and Halleck … probably closer to Elburz.
Where the heck is Elburz? Don’t see it on the Atlas. I’ll vote for Halleck, as it’s real close to where the Humboldt River splits and the North fork goes “north”. I’m guessing that that’s what the bridge is for.
You guys shure came close but nobody got it. It’s the town of Ryndon,Nv a very small town about 8 miles east of Elko,Nv. I called this town home for 4 months back in the winter of 97’. I lived in one of those white dots in the background. The train is on the eastbound ex WP “paired track”. The river on the left is the Humboldt river which the Overland follows west through Nevada, known as “Humboldt’s Golden Road”
Brian, You did a pretty good job of describing this location for a midwesterner.
