The Whittier EQ was the one that scared me. I sat up in bed when the EQ started, the bed started rolling and I thought “this is going to be fun…” next thing I knew I was thrown off the bed onto the floor!

Sorry, it’s not the Brand Library or Forrest Lawn. To the right in front of the bridge it a BEST, which is a retail store. The bridge it where Nordhoff Street crosses over the Coast mainline in Northridge. To the left of the right of way are other San Fernando Valley business’. The mountains in the background are the Santa Susana mountains; the division point between the San Fernando Valley and Simi Valley.

Further to the west, the tracks curve due north then due west going under tunnel 28 (Topanga Canyon Blvd) followed by tunnels 27 and 26 coming out where Hasson siding now is.

PS I’ve lived around this area since July, 1967. Lived thru every eathquake. This was the only earthquake (January 17, 1993) is the only one that scared me. All the others are no big deal, without question. Not even the aftershocks bothered me. No power of any kind at my hours for 18 hours.

Guess I wasnt specific enough, if you look at the underpass , above the guy in the red shirt you can see framed in the background a large building on top of the green hill, That is what I was asking whether it was Forest Lawn or the Brand Library, I think its Forest Lawn Gle

I have been in hundreds of earthquakes and the Northridge was the only one that made me question if it was the big one. Most quakes have a rolling motion as if you were in a boat close to the break on the ocean. Northridge was a violent up and down motion with no roll at all (at least where I was less the 2 miles from ground zero).
