Western where is it 2/2/06

A rather difficult one if you have not been there.

Alturas, California.

Well that was quick. Alturas it is. This building is no longer there. A&K used this spot to load rail from the scrapping of the middle portion of Modoc line. This track is now leased to the Modoc Northern, a new shortline running Klamath Falls-Alturas.

How about this one

I was going to say “Hooterville” but I guess that was wrong…[;)]

Mountains…could be NorCal could be Sierras could be Oregon…Hmmmmm let me think

Wouldn’t the depot have had a lot more orange paint if that were so? Besides, Hooterville had a water tower, didn’t it?

I lived in Alturas for many years and they only wi***hey had it as good as in Hooterville.[;)]

BTW- that’s not the depot, it’s just a freight house, and hasn’t had rail service for many years. It was a liquer wharehouse for one of the local liquer stores in town. It was common for the local kids to break in and re-up on party supplies.[;)][8D]

In Hooterville the water tank was right next to the Shady Rest hotel…where they could never understand why all the tops of the tall trees near the tank were always full of farmhands…

Somewhere in the Oregon Cascades.

Perhaps it is Gilchrist Junction, OR.

How long did it take you to break in?

Look like a very late LABRT at Gilchrest Jct with the Stockton pick-up on the point.

Gilchrest Jct. it is. Ericsp nailed it, but Kenneo gets extra credit for IDing the train.[swg]
Good job guys. I thought this one would be hard as there are really no clues in the pic to ID location by other then the lay of the land.
