Another 3985 where is it

Dang, awful foggy to be sure, but I’d say he’s dropping westbound down Cajon Pass on what was Santa Fe’s North Track (today’s Main 1) in the Drawbar Flats area near the interchange of I-15 and Hwy 138. The train below is on the South Track (today’s Main 2), and I think you can see the SP Palmdale Cutoff just beyond the 3985.

Clemente, you are close but not close enough.

He is on the UPRR track coming from Palmdale at the summit of the CP

Dang Chad, your tough, thats closer than I could describe it.

Aww come on now, I don’t think you’re really applying yourself.[;)]

Well I thought this would be easy. I guess that’s what I get for thinking.
This is Devore at the mouth of Cajon Pass. Clemente, you got the pass right but the wrong spot so I couldn’t give it to ya, Sorry.

Devore is in the open on the alluvial fan. Not until up near Keenbrook do the tracks get this close to the hillsides. Even if this were somewhere near Keenbrook, it wouldn’t explain why the 3985 is on the middle of three tracks. Sure doesn’t look like the Keenbrook connector between SP and ATSF. There’s clearly another track behind and slightly above the 3985. I’m sticking with Drawbar Flats.

OK mabee Keenbrook is more accurate. I took this from old 66 at the top of the first rise after turning right at the bottom of Kenwood road.

BTW- I thought Drawbar Flats was between Sullivan’s Curve and the 138 overpass. Is that correct?
