Western where is it 3/10/06

Smog. Santa Fe running left-handed. Double mains crossing double mains. Gotta be Colton, CA. I think the occupied connection in the background is on the northwest corner of the diamonds, so that would make the Santa Fe train a westbound.

You got it Clemente. With a quickness too. Good job.

Here is another shot of the train on the connector

OK sience that didn’t take long lets try another

Oh thats an OLD pic!

Smog, SP SW switcher!, buckled track! Heat ripples rising off the ballast!

this could be ANYWHERE on the old SP!

Looks like the LA basin …Hmmm the palm tree and phone poles…could be Pomona, or Van Nuys!

Van Nuys?

Right on the money Vic. It’s Gemco yard (in Van Nuys) looking west from the east end. It was taken around 94’ I thing.

Are these too easy or are you guys that good?[8D]

Try this one

I’m not THAT good. I need a little more “where” in my “Where is it” photos.

Just west of Battle Mountain Nevada.

The modoc line between Wendel and Flanigan?

Jimmy B

Not Battle mt. or the Modoc line.

East of Sparks, NV.

Low Joints! Low Joints! Buckled track goes left and right like a sun kink. Caused by no ballast maintanence under the joints.

Now this one is interesting. Work train of caboose, tool car, idler flat, locomotive crane/pile driver and SD9. Then we have 4 SD40-45’s that suggest a helper set. But I can’t justify a helper picking up a work train - would need a train crew. Ad to this, the train is crossing a dry lake bed (white dirt). I wouold think the most likely location would be somewhere along the Humbolt Sink since the only other places like this that I know of are along the Modoc (2 dry lakes north of Flanigan and between Alturas and Lakeview, a couple of places along the WP in Nevada and far easter California.

Chad, you’re going to have to provide a bit more info for this one. sigh[:(]

It’s between Macdoel and Dorris,Ca. on the Black Butte sub
