Western where is it 3/16/06

Forget it. I never get this close to know where it is. SP UP SF all together? Taylor Yard? I dunno

Chad-perhaps you could provide clues for the clueless?

OK, it’s a big yard w/ engine facilities.

Yeh … like Long Beach, Taylor, Roseville, West Colton, Riverside (I think they stil have one), LAUPT, San Berdoo – just for starters.

Oh, hey! That narrowed it down. Thanks[;)]
Los Angelos? (maybe early in the day, before the smog rolls in?)

Commerce, perhaps Chad??

Could be [;)] Jeez, why not just list every yard on the west coast? [:D]

Ok, Not LA, not Commerce.

Egads! When you said you were going to continue Chad, I didn’t know you meant you were going to continue making them harder. What’s next? A photo of some ballast? [:D]

Now theres an idea, there are some places you can tell the line by the ballast used

Ooooh Oooh Ooooh!!! I see how this game works now. I’ll say Long Beach.[(-D]

West Colton?

Yea,yea, yea, I know. I am scrapeing the bottom of the barrel at the moment till I can scan some more material and upload it. Till then I’ll have to use pics that I previously ruled out as too hard. So consider this the double Jeopordy round.[:D]

On the other hand it seems I’m not that good of a judge of how hard they are. You guys have a knack of nailing what I think would be hard, and not getting the ones I think would be easy.

As for the Ballast remark…well there are several lines I know of that have distinct looking ballast like the pink stuff the Santa Fe (BNSF) uses, the red cinder stuff SP used in Northern California and the Dark stuff on the DRGW.

Roseville yard.

West Colton

Barstow.

Chad

I think that today’s photo would do well in aphoto contest as far as composition. In that respect, it is a fine photo.

But for a “where is it”? Not enough area detail or other clues. I could have gone on and listed almost all of the other west coast yards in California and/or Arizlona, but you got the point.

My opinion is that you should enter some of your “more dificult” photo’s in contests in your local County Fair or camera club presentations. I think you would be pleased with the result.

Something about it makes me want to say Dolores Yard.

Corwinda got it. It’s the Roseville engine facility, Good job.

Eric, you named it first but with that list of guesses how could you not have? I don’t think it would have been fair to accept that.

Chad, my offer still stands.
