Western where is it 3/30/06

Just north of Lancaster, CA. Is that your ride under the Taco Hell sign?

just south of Mojave?

Yeah, actually I meant between Mojave and Lancaster, but if it is closer to Mojave, then I guess Vic gets it.

Yes, it’s the overpass at the south end of Mojave. And yes that bomer was my railfanning rig at one time. When I moved to LA to go to ITT I desperately needed a car but had no money. Well a cousin of mine said she would sell me that for virtualy nothing. It ran good but was ugly as hell. That was my ride for a year till I went to work for Century and got a company truck. I put that car through hell on railroad service roads where I had no bussiness being in a 2wd vehicle, let alone a sedan. That car prooved to be tough as nails. I drove tht thing like the Duke boys with Enis hot on my tale and the worse thing to happen was a few flat tires and 1 bent rim. As soon as I scraped up some money I bought my 66’ Chevy and rebuilt it from the frame up. The Olds was in the way so I gave it to my sister. She drove it for a year or two then got rid of it. Several years later I went to visit a friend and that car was sitting in his driveway all screwed up inside and out. He had bought the carcus for the transmission. I was suprised to see it again. I never really gave a*** about it but I sure do have many railfan roadtrip memorys with that POC.

And now for the double Jeapordy round.

Tehachapi, CA.

Not Tehachapi

Truckee, CA

It’s a Santa Fe train on home rails, and it’s not on the transcon.

Looks like someplace on Raton Pass

Not mojave.[;)]

Not Ratone or Mojave

Hesperia, CA or somewhere thereabouts.

Cajon Summit, during one of our rare winters

Those places are on the transcon. I dropped a hint a few posts up that this location is NOT on the transcon.[;)]

The SF line to Phoenix…?

Not specific enough

That’s about as specific as I can get. lol

Williams-ish? That’s about where the moutains and pine trees end, soon as that line makes the turn off the transcon.

Good enough, Williams it is. Good job Farmer03.
